About the Role
We're hiring full-time and PRN instructors! Full-time instructors will work 40 hours per week. Part-time / PRN instructors must be able to teach at least three two-day sessions per month.
Skills Lab instructors are responsible for delivering on-site classroom and skills instruction, and coaching and mentoring students enrolled in Axon EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic courses. Our Skills Labs are taught on-site at hospitals, EMS agencies, fire departments, and conference spaces throughout Texas, and are typically offered in a two-day format. As an instructor, you’ll be responsible for teaching hands-on skills such as assessment, vitals, interventions, and EMS documentation.
What You'll Do
- Deliver hands-on instruction in accordance with EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic course curriculum
- Teach and demonstrate core EMS skills including patient assessment, vital signs, airway management, trauma care, medical interventions, and EMS documentation
- Facilitate realistic skills labs and scenarios that reinforce classroom learning and promote critical thinking
- Provide personalized coaching, feedback, and mentorship to students to build confidence and clinical competence
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students
- Assess student performance and provide real-time corrective guidance during skills practice and evaluations
- Set up and break down training spaces, equipment, and supplies before and after each session
- Ensure all instructional materials and equipment are used appropriately and maintained in working order
- Accurately document student participation, skills performance, and attendance
- Travel to and teach at various sites across Texas, including hospitals, EMS agencies, fire departments, and conference facilities
- Represent Axon professionally when interacting with students, partner organizations, and clinical site staff
- Stay current with EMS best practices, protocols, and instructional techniques through continuing education and training
Qualifications
- A minimum of three years 911 experience working as a Paramedic
- A valid DSHS Paramedic certification
- A valid DSHS Instructor certification or be willing to obtain an Instructor certification within 60 days of employment
- Valid CPR instructor certifications in one or more areas AHA- BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc. or willingness to obtain Instructor certification within 60 days of employment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong technology and presentation skills
- Ability to deliver training for up to 8-10 hours per day (standing)
- Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to travel to training locations within two hours from your home location with possible overnight travel
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs
- Availability to work daytime and/or weekend shifts
Work Schedule & Location
- Based in Abilene, TX
- May travel to customer locations or instructional sites throughout Texas
- Full Time; 40 hours per week
- Flexible work arrangements, a reduced full-time position, or a part-time position may be available for applicants with EMS experience who are concurrently employed at another EMS service or agency
