W.F. Baird & Associates (“Baird”) is seeking a motivated engineering student to join our New York City office as a Coastal Engineering Intern for Summer 2026.
As part of our global team, you will gain hands on experience working on real world marine, coastal, and waterfront engineering projects from design through construction while collaborating with colleagues across Baird’s international offices. Company Description: Baird is a 130+ person employee-owned engineering firm specializing in coastal, marine, and riverine engineering with offices in U.S., Canada, Australia, Barbados, Jamaica, Chile, and UK. It is one of the only firms in the world dedicated exclusively to marine and coastal projects.
As a Coastal Engineering Intern working under supervising professional engineers, you will support all Baird global offices by:
- Participating in field data collection
- Performing engineering analyses and design of coastal and marine structures
- Assisting with the preparation of project deliverables including technical reports, calculations, cost estimates, specifications and drawings
- Assisting with the construction administration tasks for projects currently being constructed

Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Junior, Senior or Graduate student standing in an (ideally) ABET accredited engineering programs specializing in water resources, coastal, civil, structural, geological or geotechnical engineering
- Ability to work on-site at our New York City office a minimum of 3 days per week (remote 2 days per week)
- Commitment to an 8–10-week internship experience
Preferred:
- Ability to continue working part-time hours into the fall of 2026
- Previous intern experience with an engineering consulting firm
- Working knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with or willingness to learn GIS software
- Experience with or willingness to learn programming with MATLAB and/or Python
