Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical and customer-focused Product Manager II to join our Controlled Substances team. This role is ideal for a data-focused Product Manager with a strong product foundation who is ready to go deep — building rare, hard-to-develop expertise in one of healthcare's most complex and highly regulated domains, where data quality, regulatory nuance, and customer trust are everything.
As a Product Manager II, you will establish yourself as the subject matter expert in Controlled Substance data and reporting solutions, partnering with customers, engineering, analytics, and product leadership to develop products that deliver meaningful value to healthcare organizations, pharmacies, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in SQL and Tableau, and the ability to translate complex business, regulatory, and customer needs into product solutions — while managing a large, concurrent portfolio of initiatives with speed and precision. Active, fluent use of AI-supported tools is essential to operating effectively at this scale. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, comfortable working with large and complex datasets, and excited to use data-driven insights to influence product decisions.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop deep expertise in Bamboo Health's Controlled Substance products, data assets, reporting solutions, customer workflows, and regulatory landscape.
- Analyze complex datasets using SQL, Tableau, and other analytical tools to identify trends, customer needs, risks, and product opportunities.
- Lead the discovery, prioritization, requirements definition, and delivery of reporting and data product enhancements from concept through adoption.
- Partner with customers and customer-facing teams to understand needs, manage expectations, communicate tradeoffs, and distinguish between defects, enhancements, and future opportunities.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Engineering, Architecture, and Customer Success teams to deliver scalable, customer-focused solutions.
- Translate customer feedback, business needs, regulatory requirements, and data insights into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
- Support roadmap decisions by evaluating customer impact, regulatory requirements, technical feasibility, operational considerations, and business value.
- Contribute to data governance, reporting, metadata, and AI-enabled product initiatives that improve customer value and operational efficiency.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), product documentation, data definitions, and customer-facing enablement materials.
- Explore opportunities to enhance workflows through AI or automation tools (e.g., document summarization, task routing, or data parsing).
- Identify repetitive tasks and partner with team leads to implement scalable automation solutions.
What Success Looks Like…
In 3 months…
- Develop a strong understanding of Bamboo Health's Controlled Substance products, customers, data assets, and regulatory environment.
- Independently navigate key datasets and reporting solutions to answer customer and business questions.
- Use SQL and Tableau to investigate data questions and contribute meaningful product insights.
- Build relationships with customers and stakeholders to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities.
- Utilize AI tools to manage workload velocity — accelerating documentation, requirements, research, and stakeholder communication across multiple concurrent initiatives.
In 6 months…
- Independently lead discovery, requirements gathering, and customer conversations for product enhancements.
- Proactively identify product opportunities informed by customer feedback, data analysis, and market insights.
- Consistently deliver high-quality requirements, documentation, and product recommendations.
- Establish an effective AI-enabled workflow that supports quality execution across multiple initiatives.
In 12 months…
- Be recognized as a subject matter expert in Controlled Substance data, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead complex customer conversations and product initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Proactively identify and drive resolution of data quality issues, customer pain points, and product gaps.
- Influence roadmap decisions through well-supported recommendations balancing customer, regulatory, technical, and business priorities.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in product management, product analytics, data analysis, or a related discipline, with demonstrated progression in scope and ownership.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to independently query and analyze large, complex datasets.
- Proficiency with Tableau, including dashboard development, data visualization, and analytical storytelling.
- Experience translating business needs and data insights into product recommendations, requirements, and technical solutions.
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as healthcare, government, insurance, or financial services.
- Experience working with healthcare, pharmacy, public health, claims, or controlled substance data.
- Experience working with data governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality programs, reporting standards, or enterprise analytics initiatives.
- Familiarity with Agile product development methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience supporting product discovery, roadmap planning, product delivery, or customer-facing product initiatives.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards, healthcare regulations, or state government technology programs.
- Experience using Python or other analytical tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and creativity in designing solutions.
- A forward-thinking, curious mindset with an openness to experimenting with new technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly master a complex, highly regulated domain and establish credibility as a subject matter expert with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Active, demonstrated use of AI-supported tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar) to meaningfully accelerate product work — including research, drafting, analysis, and documentation. This is a requirement, not a nice-to-have.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly evolving environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment, ensuring high-quality virtual interactions with minimal distractions.
- The ability to travel periodically for work.
What You Get:
- Join one of the most innovative healthcare technology companies in the country.
- Have the autonomy to build something with an enthusiastically supportive team.
- Build deep, rare expertise in a specialized and high-impact domain — controlled substance data that touches pharmacies, government agencies, and health systems across the country.
- Receive competitive compensation including health, dental, vision and other benefits.
