Staff Software Engineer

We’re seeking a driven and innovative Staff Software Engineer to join the Product Platform team and lead the development of our person matching systems. In this role, you will define and deliver complex engineering solutions to meet the product requirements while providing technical leadership to influence product design, architectural models for our software products and application build, release, and deployment processes. Your role will be multifaceted and extremely dynamic to put architectural design into practice, creating & shipping code into all stages of our business, from early proof of concept work to production development. You will need to balance the needs of engineering along with those of the product, sales, and support teams as Bamboo Health executes on concurrent projects across multiple product lines.


What You’ll Do:

  • Be a technical leader, developing and improving the platform services that are foundational across our product lines. 
  • Develop partnerships with internal and external resources, build consensus and clarity to complete projects on time, within the design specification.
  • Build and share the Bamboo Health platform vision with product and engineering teams.
  • Review & contribute to product design & business requirements, steering them towards our future direction.
  • Work with infrastructure and security teams to design solutions with cost optimization and specific security requirements in mind.
  • Mentor and guide other team members on technical approaches.
  • Continually assess our tech stack and recommend a path for the future.


What Success Looks Like…

In 3 months…

  • You will develop an understanding of the as-is state of the Bamboo Health product lines & technical stack
  • You will be contributing code
  • You will be developing relationships

In 6 months…

  • • You will have a working knowledge of Bamboo Health software code repository & the CI/CD process.
  • • You will have a deep understanding of Bamboo Health AWS infrastructure and full stack application deployment
  • • You will contribute software design and develop for new and existing products

In 12 months…

  • • You will have a comprehensive knowledge of our software architecture, especially our large-scale, real-time data pipeline process.
  • • You will lead one or more product platform services and work with various application development teams that as the customers of the platform services.
  • • You will be contributing to the road map of Bamboo Health software platform


What You Need:

  • BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of software development experience using Java and Kotlin and the Spring framework
  • 3-5 years of experience of software development in high volume real-time service-oriented, message driven platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • Developing APIs & integrating with 3rd party APIs
    • Relational database design
    • AWS or other public cloud application hosting
  • Self-starter with an ability to solve problems with little or no direction and a passion for driving excellence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for overall architecture, product, and application design and implementation
  • Strong leadership skills to mentor and assist less experienced team members
  • A high level of judgment, analytical ability, and creativity in investigating problems that require original and innovative solutions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment. 
  • A work environment that is conducive to high quality virtual interactions. This includes but is not limited to being able to work from a quiet space with minimal interruptions or distractions, and a strong internet connection.
  • Experience with CI/CD infrastructure and development
  • Experience with Python and other scripting languages
  • Knowledge of Amazon Aurora and PostgreSQL database management systems
  • Experience working with Docker & Kubernetes
  • Experience with Atlassian product suite
