Senior CAD Engineer

Role Overview


Beehive Industries is looking for you to join our Manufacturing Engineering team as CAD Engineer for all internally manufactured components.  In this role, you will be the CADexpert and work alongside Manufacturing Engineers to help prepare models for manufacturing to ensure components are properly modeled and stocked for all manufacturing operations to achieve dimensional tolerances. Day to day tasks involve considering machining stock, AM part distortion, and digesting structured light data to name a few. You will also collaborate with Design engineers, quality engineers and technicians, and machinists. This position reports to the manager of Technical Operations, Manufacturing Engineering.

 Responsibilities:

  • Work with manufacturing engineers and machinists to execute the design and drafting of additive preforms and fixture models. 
  • Start from final definition models and add stock to complex surfaces and parametrically compensate deformation while maintaining an organized and coherent feature tree.
  • Create manufacturing level drawings for fixtures and in process models and inspections.  
  • Perform “reverse engineering” by using scan data and creating new part models using parametric modeling. 
  • Ensure product designs follow standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing 
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments 
  • Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design.  Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing. 
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology,  or Industrial Design from an accredited university or college 
  • At least 6+ years of experience in design of complex additive or gas turbine components 
  • Strong expertise in design software tools (NX, SolidWorks, etc.  NX Preferred)
  • Experience with handling 3D scan data and creating parametric models based on re-interpreted scan data 
  • System level CAD model, parametric modeling, and PLM/PDM experience 
  • Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles 
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing 
  • Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability 
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills 
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills 
  • Proven self-starter and quick learner who can work in fast-paced cross-functional teams.

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $85,000-$155,000 base salary.  Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
