Lead Engineer, Test Facilities

Role Overview 


We are seeking a Facility Engineer responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of our gas turbine test facilities. This individual acts as a liaison between the facility department and engineering teams, ensuring that the facility meets the technical requirements for testing while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in engineering and facility management, strong project management skills, communication abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality. 


What You’ll Do… 

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including facility management, engineering teams, and external contractors 
  • Bridge the communication gap between the facility department and engineering teams 
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations 
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand technical specifications and requirements for test cell design
  • Analyze and document facility requirements, including space, utilities, safety features, and environmental considerations 
  • Support the execution of component and engine test activities. This includes design and construction of systems to support testing 
  • Support design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, and system analysis to develop appropriate test systems 
  • Collaborate with design, build and engineer teams to ensure the facility design aligns with industry standards and best practices 
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during testing 
  • Maintain detailed documentation throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and proposed solutions 
  • Stay informed about advancements in gas turbine technology and facility design to incorporate relevant updates
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance once test cells are operational 


Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in an aviation or gas turbine testing environment
  • Knowledge of facility design, HVAC systems, utilities, and safety standards in industrial settings. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with engineering teams, facility management, vendors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with industry codes and regulations related to facility construction and gas turbine testing. 
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations applicable to industrial facilities, particularly those related to aviation testing. 
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address challenges during the design and construction phases. 
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to facility systems
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management/Program Management
  • Experience with Aviation Test (component level, engine)
  • Experience with gas turbine testing
  • Experience in designing or building test cells is crucial for this role to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the specific challenges and requirements involved in such projects

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $130,000-$165,000 base salary.  Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
