About the role


Bellhop’s ‘Dedicated Truck’ Long Distance offering continues to grow as customers learn about the unique value proposition. In order to support this growth, we are hiring a Carrier Specialist to recruit, onboard, and manage operations for long-distance carriers. 

This person must be excellent at building relationships, know how to stay calm under pressure, and partner with Bellhop team members to continually improve the long-distance experience for both Bellhop customers and Bellhop Carrier partners. The person will be responsible for key metrics such as the transportation cost as a percentage of revenue, the percentage of long-distance moves with a discount due to Carrier issues, and the total amount of moves filled. 



What you'll do


  • Manage a pool of carriers - You will be cultivating relationships with new and old carrier partners. A critical part of success lies in how you manage the performance of your fleet to ensure we are supplying our customers with only the best partners. 
  • Select the right carrier for the job - As the owner of market quality, you’ll be in a position to choose which of your carriers are utilized for long-distance moves. Your judgment on quality and price will directly impact the overall growth of the company.
  • Scale Bellhop’s platform  - You will be expected to translate your daily experience into ideas and projects that help achieve Bellhop’s goals around growth and profitability.


Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience plus 1-2 years of professional experience). 
  • 2-5 years of professional experience.
  • A background in freight brokerage, 3PL, supply chain for a retail/consumer goods company, or a moving company is highly preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit - You can thrive in the startup environment and continue to operate at a high output level. You roll up your sleeves and do work yourself. You like to stay flexible and not confine yourself to a rigid plan.
  • Sharp Communicator - You will need to be able to communicate clearly and frequently with both your team, and with other cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Teammate through and through - You can easily work cross-functionally and with others to achieve our goals. You have experience working in high-functioning teams that collectively delivered excellent results. You win others over with trust and sincerity and care as deeply about the team’s happiness as your own. 

Schedule:

Bellhop customers overwhelmingly choose to move during the summer months and on weekends. As such, some weekend work is expected during peak business windows.


Compensation:

The compensation package for this role is a combination of an annual salary and a monthly performance bonus. The annual salary for this role is $36,000, with an annual “On Target Earnings" of $47,000.
