Benevolent Family Services is an expanding, dedicated provider of Mental Health services for adults & children facing serious mental illnesses. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Outpatient Therapist provides high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups within Benevolent Family Services’ outpatient programs. This position includes developing treatment plans, conducting ongoing therapy sessions, and maintaining compliance with all documentation, ethical, and regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy using clinically appropriate, evidence-based approaches.
  • Review treatment goals with clients and families at prescribed intervals and update documentation accordingly.
  • Provide care coordination by initiating or participating in client-centered consultation with internal and external providers.
  • Maintain clinical documentation within required timelines in compliance with DBHDS, DMAS, and agency policies.
  • Participate in quality assurance, outcome monitoring, and team meetings.
  • Support the mission, values, and culture of Benevolent Family Services by modeling professionalism, empathy, and teamwork.

GENERAL COMPETENCIES:

This position requires demonstrating knowledge of behavioral health conditions, treatment modalities, and documentation standards. One must exhibit strong clinical judgment, ethical integrity, and crisis intervention skills, maintain compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards, promote a trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally competent approach to care, and participate in agency training, supervision, and performance evaluations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Active license or license-eligible status in Virginia (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or LMHP-R).
  • Experience providing psychotherapy in a behavioral health setting
  • Certifications in trauma-informed care/treatment, including EMDR strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Basic computer literacy and EMR documentation skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on client needs.

CLASSIFICATION:

Full-time, Part-time, or Contract as designated.
