*Short-term Summer Camp Employment Opportunity
About the role
- Join a vibrant, high-level musical community and help create a transformative experience for young pianists! We are hiring responsible, enthusiastic, and caring staff to support our weeklong residential academy, July 6-July 13, 2026, 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Duties
- Supervise and care for students in a residential setting throughout the week
- Ensure student safety and well-being at all times, including overnight supervision.
- Lead campus tour
- Chaperone for 4th to 6th graders
- Take daily attendance at the morning meeting. (Ratio: 1 counselor to 8-10 students)
- Help students to check their daily lesson and practice schedule on the board and guide them to where they need to be
- Schedule and coordinate activities
- Usher students for recitals and concerts. Follow the director’s order to line students up for recitals.
- Assist with daily operations, including transitions between activities
- Help monitor practice time and ensure students remain on schedule
- Accompany and supervise students during meals, activities, and transitions
- Take attendance for field trip
- During field trip 1 counselor will oversee 8-10 students
- Help to cook for the picnic if applicable
- Enforce curfew and conduct nightly room checks
- Get students up for breakfast
- Assist with check-in, orientation, and final check-out procedures per the Conference Services instructions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student needs outside of lessons
Qualifications
- Must be a current student at Bethel University
Expectations
- Maintain a high level of attentiveness and responsibility for student safety
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Maintain clear communication with faculty and staff regarding student whereabouts and needs
- Report any behavioral concerns, homesickness, or safety issues immediately to the faculty or RD
- Be fully present during assigned duties (limit personal phone use while supervising)
Work Environment:
Most of the tasks are around people, monitoring the safety of the students. Schedule and coordinate activities both outdoors and indoors including the music department lobby, underground, and the dorm.
Physical Demands:
This role requires moderate walking and sitting.
Expected Hours of Work:
This role works approximately a total of 90 hours. The final amount is subject to change depending on the actual hours worked or needed to finish the job.
