Biology Department TA

About the role

  • Biology TAs within the Department of Biological Sciences assist faculty within the Department in a variety of ways.  The primary functions of Biology TAs are assisting with grading work and/or setting up and taking down teaching labs.

Qualifications

  • Must have taken the course for which the employee is planning to be a TA for OR have sufficient knowledge of the course material based on prior experience within the department.
  • Must be able to work semi-independently and complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
  • Must be a current student at Bethel University.

 

Work Environment:

Biology Department TAs work semi-independently to complete tasks assigned by faculty while working in the labs, classrooms, and study areas on campus.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Biology TA to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures when working with chemicals.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.

Expected Hours of Work:

Biology TAs will perform work duties at the times assigned by faculty. Biology TAs assigned to lab set up and

must be able to complete their work between 6:30AM-7PM Monday through Friday. The hours worked per

week will vary and can range from 0-5+ hours per week depending on course workload needs.


Student employees may not work over 20 hours per week during the school year among all Bethel employment jobs or not over 40 hours per week during the summer among all Bethel employment.

The pay range for this role is:

14.25 - 14.25 USD per hour (Bethel University)
