The Senior Bookkeeper works closely with company leadership and department managers to provide financial visibility, support sound business decisions, maintain compliance, and strengthen internal controls. This role is essential to building consistent, scalable accounting processes that support the company's continued growth.

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months

  • Accurate Financial Reporting: Revenue, labor, materials, and other costs are coded correctly by job, location, and department, giving leadership confidence in reported results.
  • Strong Job Costing: Job costs are reconciled to the general ledger, and managers receive timely information about budget variances, cost overruns, and margin erosion.
  • Effective Cash Management: Accounts receivable, vendor payments, and short-term cash forecasts are monitored consistently, providing leadership with a clear picture of cash flow.
  • Scalable Accounting Processes: Standardized procedures, internal controls, and reporting practices support additional locations and continued company growth, while the external CPA firm receives a clean year-end handoff.

What You’ll Do

  • Own Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, and general ledger accuracy across multiple locations.
  • Lead the Monthly Close: Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and balance sheet accounts; prepare adjusting entries; and deliver timely financial statements with supporting schedules.
  • Maintain Accurate Job Costing: Ensure transactions are coded correctly by job, location, and department in ServiceTitan and reconcile job costs to the general ledger each month.
  • Support Financial Performance: Partner with managers to review labor and material costs against job budgets, identify variances, and flag cost overruns and margin concerns early.
  • Manage Cash Flow: Monitor collections and accounts receivable aging, coordinate vendor payments, and prepare weekly cash updates and short-term forecasts for leadership.
  • Support Payroll Accounting: Review payroll inputs and labor allocations, and reconcile payroll liabilities, benefits, and accrued leave.
  • Maintain Compliance: Coordinate sales and use tax reporting, 1099 reporting, vendor documentation, year-end CPA requests, and lender information needs.
  • Strengthen Internal Controls: Improve accounting procedures, documentation, reconciliations, and financial reporting consistency as the company grows.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, improve accuracy, and build scalable processes that support the company's continued growth.
