Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Corporate Communications Manager with 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, and stakeholder engagement-ideally within highly regulated industries such as medical technology, life sciences, or neurotech. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, a natural storyteller, and a proactive collaborator who can translate complex technical language into compelling narratives for broad audiences.


In this role, you will help shape Blackrock's external positioning, manage our corporate reputation, elevate executive visibility, and support media and public engagement strategies. You will report directly to the Head of Communications and play a pivotal role in strengthening our brand voice, expanding our industry influence, and aligning our messaging with regulatory and market dynamics.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Messaging

  • Contribute to the development and execution of Blackrock's corporate communications strategy aligned with business goals and brand positioning.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, ensuring communications strategies proactively address industry developments and reputational risks.
  • Craft clear, compelling narratives that explain BCI technology and Blackrock's impact to non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and manage corporate messaging frameworks and maintain consistent, proactive messaging across channels, ensuring alignment with scientific, regulatory, and commercial developments.

Media Relations & Executive Visibility

  • Support day-to-day media relations, including drafting press materials, managing media inquiries, and preparing spokespeople for interviews
  • Maintain relationships with key journalists, analysts, and industry publications.
  • Proactively identify media opportunities and industry trends and reactively respond to inbound inquiries to raise awareness of Blackrock and its leadership.
  • Develop though leadership content (e.g., op-eds, bylines, speeches, and Q&As) for Blackrock executives and subject matter experts.

Competitive Intelligence & Market Positioning

  • Advise leadership on navigating media narratives, company and peer perception, and regulatory communications, and deliver intelligence briefings to executive leadership ensuring clarity and consistency in external engagement:
    • Media sentiment & narrative analysis (press coverage, reputational risks, and industry trends).
    • Public perception landscapes (awareness trends, educational gaps, and audience engagement).
    • Regulatory landscapes (anticipated policy changes, compliance risks, and market entry challenges).
    • Competitive positioning (how industry peers communicate product launches, regulatory strategy, and investment narratives).
  • Develop strategic communication plans to mitigate reputational risks, counter mis/disinformation, and enhance industry credibility.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on how Blackrock should position itself in consumer and industry discussions.

Reputation & Issues Management

  • Contribute to issues and crisis communications planning and response, in partnership with legal and leadership teams and business groups.
  • Support the development of internal messaging and FAQs for sensitive or high-impact topics.

Content Development & Storytelling

  • Write and edit a range of external-facing content including press releases, blog posts, social media copy, talking points, and newsletters.
  • Develop high-impact content (white papers, op-eds, expert commentary) to reinforce Blackrock's leadership in neurotechnology, ethics, and policy discourse.
  • Collaborate with design and marketing teams and agencies to develop multimedia content that brings our stories to life.
  • Ensure all content reflects Blackrock's tone, brand, and positioning.
  • Monitor social media performance and engagement trends to inform content strategy.

Public Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Cultivate relationships with industry influencers, research institutions, and key stakeholders to expand Blackrock's influence in critical public, policy, and ethics discussions.
  • Identify and secure key speaking engagements and strategic participation in major neurotechnology, medtech, and public-education forums.
  • Assist in developing materials and messaging for industry events, partnerships, and investor communications.
  • Help prepare executive briefings and communications materials (e.g. talking points, Q&As) for conferences, events, and other high-stakes stakeholder engagements, including regulators, partners, and advocacy groups.

Project Management

  • Manage timelines and deliverables for communications projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar and content pipeline in coordination with marketing and product teams.
  • Ensure efficient review and approval of workflows for all external content.


Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field.
    • Advanced Degree in Communications, Public Policy, Science & Technology Studies is a strong plus.
  • Experience
    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public affairs, media relations or strategic communications within a highly regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, biotech, neurotechnology, or medtech).
    • Experience in executive communications, thought leadership, and investor relations.
    • Proven success in crisis communications, reputation management, and high stakes media engagement.
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Strong communications skills, with experience crafting high-impact messaging for diverse audiences.
    • Exceptional storytelling skills, with ability to distill complex technical, regulatory, and industry topics into accessible and compelling narratives.
    • Strong media relations skills, with experience engaging top-tier press and managing public perception, and a proven track record of securing impactful coverage.
    • Familiarity with regulatory and policy frameworks related to neurotechnology, AI and healthcare innovation.
    • Experience advising C-level executives, investors and stakeholders on communications strategy.
    • Experience managing corporate social media accounts and digital campaigns.
    • Solid understanding of corporate reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and issues/crisis communications.
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for emerging technologies, neuroscience, or human augmentation.
  • Deep expertise in highly regulated industries.
  • Experience in international communications and multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Track record of securing executive thought leadership opportunities, including major conferences and op-eds in high-profile publications.
  • Experience navigating high-stakes digital communications, including public affairs engagement, industry discourse, and executive positioning in digital media.
  • Background in crisis management and regulatory response communications.
