Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 plus equity

Location: 1 Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA (In-person role)

The Role

As our Contracts Lawyer, you'll manage the full lifecycle of commercial agreements as we scale our enterprise business. You'll work directly with sales, partnerships, and leadership to negotiate enterprise agreements, refine our legal documentation, and build optimal processes for contract management.

This isn't a traditional risk-averse legal role—you're a strategic partner who understands the balance between protecting the company and enabling deals. You'll negotiate MSAs, SOWs, DPAs, and enterprise licensing agreements with Fortune 500 companies, pushing back where necessary to prevent business risk while keeping deals moving forward.

What you'll do:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate 20-40+ enterprise agreements per quarter (MSAs, SOWs, DPAs, SaaS agreements)
  • Manage contract negotiations with enterprise legal and procurement teams, handling typical redlines and customer requests
  • Improve and refine our standard enterprise agreement templates based on market feedback and deal patterns
  • Build and refine contract playbooks, negotiation guides, and fallback positions that scale
  • Build optimal processes for contract analysis, tracking, and management
  • Partner with sales to remove legal blockers and accelerate deal velocity
  • Navigate enterprise procurement processes and build relationships with customer legal teams
  • Structure partnership agreements and collaboration frameworks
  • Establish contract approval workflows and reporting systems
  • Advise on data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), security standards, and compliance requirements
  • Identify and mitigate business risk while enabling revenue

What success looks like:

  • Sales views you as a deal enabler, not a blocker
  • Contract cycle times decrease through standardized language and clear processes
  • You execute complex enterprise deals while maintaining strong legal protections
  • You become the trusted legal expert for the revenue team

Required Experience

  • JD from accredited law school + active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
  • 2-5 years of SaaS/technology contracts experience (in-house or law firm)
  • Proven track record negotiating commercial agreements (MSAs, SOWs, SaaS agreements)
  • Deep understanding of SaaS business models, subscription pricing, and enterprise software sales
  • Experience with data privacy requirements (GDPR, CCPA) and security standards
  • Strong business judgment—you know when to protect and when to enable
  • Excellent communication skills with non-lawyers
  • Comfortable with high deal volume and fast-paced startup environments

What Makes You Stand Out

  • In-house experience at a Series A-C SaaS startup during hypergrowth is a plus
  • Track record negotiating with Fortune 500 legal and procurement teams
  • Experience building contract processes and templates from scratch
  • Background in AI/ML, developer tools, or enterprise software
  • Reduced contract cycle times and improved deal velocity in previous roles
  • Understanding of software development or technical concepts
  • Experience with CLM tools (Ironclad, DocuSign CLM, etc.)

What Makes This Different

You'll own negotiations end-to-end, not just review what others create. You'll refine and improve our contract infrastructure as the business scales. You'll work directly with sales daily, not in a legal silo. You'll balance speed with thoroughness—deals close in weeks, not months. Your success is measured by deals executed and revenue enabled, not just risks mitigated.

What We Ask

  • Comfort with ambiguity—deal terms and processes evolve as we scale
  • Move fast without sacrificing quality—distinguish must-haves from nice-to-haves
  • Low ego, high output—you care about enabling revenue, not just being "right"
  • Hands-on approach—you'll draft first versions, not just review
  • Entrepreneurial spirit—build processes where none exist
  • Excellent judgment—know when to escalate and when to decide
