We are an early-stage, maritime defense technology startup backed by top tier investors. Our team is designing and building autonomous and highly producible ships that can serve multiple missions on the open ocean.
Picture yourself working at the edge of a historic harbor stepping each day into the marine R&D facility where the future of our fleet is taking shape.
As an Electrical Engineering Field Technician at BWA, you help power the heartbeat of our company: the vessels we are building. You are a roll-up your sleeves, hands-on with the systems that bring them to life. Assembling, integrating, testing, and validating the electrical and software-enabled control systems that make our platforms move, think, and perform in demanding marine environments; rain, snow, sun, whatever mother nature throws at us.
This role is built for someone who thrives in fast paced execution. In the lab and in the field, you’ll transform engineering designs into working reality; wiring, troubleshooting, validating, and preparing systems that will operate on the water just outside our doors. Working alongside onsite and remote engineers, your craftsmanship and precision directly shape the reliability and success of every deployment.
Based in New Bedford, MA, this is more than a technical position. It’s an opportunity to build tangible, mission-driven technology in a place where the ocean is both backdrop and proving ground for someone who feels at home near the water and takes pride in seeing their work launch from the dock.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels, harnesses, and embedded systems according to engineering specifications and documented procedures
- Assist with integration of PLCs, embedded compute, robotic systems, and automation components into vessel platforms under the direction of engineering staff
- Support debugging, calibration, and validation of electrical and software subsystems using established tools and test protocols
- Collaborate with engineers to implement control logic, troubleshoot electronics, and optimize performance by executing defined tasks and test plans. Provide onsite analysis to be the eyes and ears in support of remote engineering teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of builds, test results, and system modifications.
- Identify opportunities for improvements in wiring, assembly, and test procedures and provide recommendations to engineering leadership
- Provide technical support during system prototyping, field trials, and operations.
