About us:
BlueWave is a mission-driven clean energy developer, owner, and operator building solar and energy storage solutions that strengthen the electric grid and deliver long-term grid value.
We partner with landowners, farmers, municipalities, and investors to advance projects that support working land while expanding the benefits of affordable, reliable energy. Our approach combines thoughtful siting, dual-use development, and long-term ownership to ensure every project is built for lasting impact.
We are committed to balancing strong financial performance with positive social and environmental outcomes.
About the role:
BlueWave has an immediate opening for an Associate, Project Development based in Massachusetts, with the ability to travel throughout the state as needed. This role will support the development of a portfolio of solar and energy storage projects from origination through construction readiness, working closely with other members of the Project Development team.
This is an opportunity to join an established, high-performing team and play a meaningful role in moving BlueWave projects from early development toward construction readiness. The Associate will help advance projects through the development lifecycle by coordinating key workstreams, maintaining project information, supporting stakeholder engagement, and contributing analysis that informs project decisions.
Success in this role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, a working understanding of renewable energy development, attention to detail, curiosity, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do:
- Support development of solar and energy storage projects across the Massachusetts market from origination through construction readiness.
- Partner with senior Project Development team members to advance assigned projects through permitting, due diligence, design, interconnection, financing, and construction-readiness milestones.
- Track project schedules, budgets, critical development tasks, and decision points to help ensure projects progress efficiently and on plan.
- Prepare project summaries, internal updates, investment materials, budget requests, and other documentation used to support development decisions.
- Represent BlueWave and project interests in collaboration with senior team members at local public hearings, community meetings, and stakeholder discussions.
- Monitor Massachusetts market, regulatory, policy, and permitting developments affecting the viability and competitiveness of BlueWave solar and storage projects.
- Support development of dual-use community solar projects, including agrivoltaics and land stewardship initiatives.
- Assist with evaluation, diligence, and execution of project acquisition and/or sale opportunities.
- Support real estate, landowner, municipal, and consultant coordination, including follow-up on agreements, deliverables, and outstanding items.
- Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records in Salesforce and other platforms.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Grid Integration, Legal, Engineering, Project Execution, Policy & Government Affairs, and Capital Markets to advance project milestones.
- Contribute quantitative, market, and project-level analysis to support development strategy and project decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business, Public Policy, or a related field preferred.
- 3-4+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy project development, real estate development, land use, permitting, energy policy, consulting, project management, or a related field.
- Experience with solar, energy storage, community solar, distributed generation, or the Massachusetts renewable energy market preferred.
- Working understanding of project development activities such as permitting, site diligence, stakeholder coordination, schedule management, budgeting, and project documentation.
- Familiarity with municipal processes, landowner coordination, community engagement, or local permitting dynamics in Massachusetts preferred.
- Basic technical understanding of solar and/or energy storage project development, including siting, interconnection, engineering, or construction-readiness considerations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional workstreams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly summarize project status, risks, and next steps for internal and external audiences.
- Comfort working with project management tools, document control systems, and Excel-based analysis.
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail, sound judgment, a collaborative approach, and the ability to learn quickly in a dynamic market.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Massachusetts for site visits, meetings, and project-related activities as needed.
The anticipated salary range for this role is $90,000-$105,000 per year + bonus. Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, certifications, and relevant experience as outlined in the job description above.
