About the role:


As a Civil Engineer II, you will collaborate with Site Acquisition and Development teams to create preliminary AutoCAD concept layouts and design packages. You will develop and maintain site plans that incorporate various constraints such as wetlands, buffers, property line setbacks, and more. Your role includes active participation in engineering design reviews, researching and reviewing site components, and supporting proposal reviews for civil engineering or geotechnical investigations. You will combine and manipulate civil 3D surface files, consolidate various site plan drawings, and support construction teams with elevation and topography reviews. Additionally, you will lead engineering flood reviews, generate flood models, and provide civil construction details for PV and BESS systems. Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills are essential as you work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines and ensure quality control.


What you'll do:

  • Collaborating with site acquisition, and development teams to produce preliminary AutoCAD concept layouts and design packages
  • Develop and maintain a site plan incorporating site constraints such as wetlands and buffers, property line setbacks, tree lines, lease lines, etc., from various partners throughout the life of a project
  • Coordinate and lead engineering design reviews including outside engineering site plans
  • Research and review engineering site components such as but not limited to sound barriers, prefabricated bridges, and agriculture fence materials
  • Support site acquisition and development teams with proposal reviews for civil engineering or geotechnical investigations
  • Combine and manipulate civil 3D surface files for racking vendor slope analyses
  • Consolidate racking, electric, foundation, civil site plan drawings and review for conflicts
  • Support construction team with elevation/ topography review, submittals and RFIs
  • Work with construction teams to identify value engineering opportunities during final designs
  • Support development team with site plan review/ drafting for local and state permit applications
  • Coordinate site survey requests and specifications at each design stage for a project
  • Lead engineering flood review phase I and phase II, utilizing available tools such as FEMA NFHL, USGS, State GIS data, HydroCAD and Army Corps HEC RAS software, etc.,
  • Generate flood models and memos to inform the larger team of the site’s flood elevation, flood risk and possible mitigation steps to lower the flood risk on our projects
  • Develop a working relationship with external engineers; Collaborate with engineers to solve design or construction challenges, keeping project costs low and incorporating landowner requests
  • Working independently and with a team to meet established deadlines
  • Generating drawings that are in line with company drawing standards and templates
  • Following quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance
  • Being proactive when communicating with the team
  • Providing Civil construction details for PV, BESS systems
  • Supporting site assessment for wetland delineations and impacts to site designs
  • Up to 20% travel expected for the position for office and site visits as needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from accredited engineering school, major should be in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science or similar field
  • Engineering professional with 8+ years of relevant work experience in engineering industry or renewable energy is required; a licensed P.E. in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD civil 3D features such as surfaces, cut/fill volumes, proposed grading, alignments and profiles
  • Experience with HydroCAD modeling software and Army Corps HEC RAS is preferred
  • Good working experience with all Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Familiar with Procore tools including but not limited to Drawings, Submittals, Documents, RFIs.
  • Ability to self-correct during internal QA/QC process
  • Good organization skills and attention to detail
  • Good technical writing experience for reports and engineering memos


Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, licenses/certifications, essential job duties, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
