About the role
BlueWave is looking for a Director of Solar Development who lives in and has the ability to travel throughout Pennsylvania.  This is an opportunity to join an established, high-performing team that has been leading the market in innovation and high-quality execution for a decade.   Strong written and verbal communication skills, a working understanding of the development process, attention to detail, creativity and thoroughness are essential to success in this position.  The ideal candidate would live in the vicinity of the Harrisburg area and be able to travel throughout Pennsylvania, as well as come into the Boston office monthly as needed.  

What you'll do
  • Drive projects through the development process and into financing and handoff to construction
  • Conducting negotiations of land leases
  • Manage external consultants responsible for plan-sets and designs
  • Overseeing project permitting, incentive application and tax abatement activities
  • Collaborating with internal teams such as grid integration, legal, offtake, engineering, construction, operations and government affairs
  • Conduct regular site visits throughout the design phase and attend town hearings during permitting
  • Overseeing and taking responsibility for project budgets and schedules
  • Be, or be willing to become knowledgeable in dual use solar project development
  • Identifying crucial developments and trends that affect the viability of the Company’s current and PA net metering project development pipeline
  • Supporting project acquisitions
  • Representing the company at regional industry association meetings
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (engineering concentration or real estate experience desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience in energy project development required – preferably in community or distributed generation scale solar projects
  • Strong understanding of the development process in Pennsylvania, specifically related to local, county, state and federal jursidictions
  • Strong understanding of real estate agreements, preferably commercial, including but not limited to, land purchase and sale, land lease agreements, and easements
  • Ability to deal with local community dynamics, as well as negotiate effectively with landowners and other stakeholders
  • A general working knowledge of energy markets, power purchase agreements, community solar and/or net metering
  • Excellent project management skills with a highly organized approach
