About the role:


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Origination to identify community solar and power purchase agreement offtake needs, originate and execute offtake agreements with high-quality counterparties and manage ongoing offtaker relationships. This role will help to deploy solar and storage assets on the grid and deliver benefits to residents, small businesses and larger commercial and institutional customers. Experience with battery storage offtake agreement origination is a plus.



What you'll do:

  • Collaborating with BlueWave’s Policy, Project Development, Project Finance and Asset Management teams to understand specific solar project offtake needs;
  • Procuring, negotiating and executing community solar customer acquisition and management services with third party vendors that meet BlueWave’s financial, mission and programmatic needs;
  • Procuring, negotiating and executing power purchase agreements and anchor offtake agreements that meet BlueWave’s financial, mission and programmatic needs;
  • As needed, leading BlueWave’s response to offtake Requests for Proposals;
  • Managing vendor agreements and relationships over time in collaboration with the Asset Management team;
  • Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the community solar customer acquisition and management services market in each state where BlueWave works and consistently updating market pricing data to support financial analysis of projects under development;
  • Working with project financial models in collaboration with the Project Development and Project Finance teams to ensure offtake costs, revenue and risks are optimized;
  • Working with BlueWave’s operations specialists to analyze offtake-related workflows and configure Salesforce and other project management tools to meet the needs of BlueWave’s growing portfolio;
  • Representing BlueWave at conferences and industry events;
  • Preparing internal and external documents, analyses and presentations; and
  • Other duties for which you are qualified.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in business development in community solar and/or energy markets;
  • Familiarity with state renewable energy programs in Massachusetts, New York, Illinois and Maine;
  • Proven ability to develop relationships, negotiate complex agreements and manage vendor relationships effectively;
  • Experience working with internal and external legal counsel to move efficiently through the contracting process;
  • Familiarity with data management systems, such as Salesforce or other CRM;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and internal stakeholders while moving projects forward to completion;
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for in-person business development meetings, conferences and other networking opportunities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, energy systems, finance, or related field preferred.


Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, licenses/certifications, essential job duties, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
