About the role:


The Project Development Co-op will support project development and permitting duties for solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The primary focus will be to create presentations for community meetings, review utility interconnection and state incentive applications, support communication processes with landowners, and research technical-related topics. Daily activities will center around project pipeline support and special projects. This includes performing research and analysis on emerging solar and energy storage technical and policy related topics.   

 

Please note that this is a Co-op position (September 2026 through December 2026). We are seeking candidates who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and are based in the Boston area. This hybrid role requires being in the office at least three (3) days per week. 



What you'll do:

  • Support the development of solar and energy storage project opportunities in NY, PA, IL
  • Assist in early project diligence, such as site design, GIS review, permitting research, etc. 
  • Produce internal documentation, such as Work Orders and ACE forms for the advancement of project scopes and other budget requests
  • Participate with Project Development team in tasks including interactions with engineers, contractors, landowners, permitting authorities, and customers
  • Utilize document control, internal Trackers, and Salesforce to track and report on project progress
  • Become familiar with all project documentation, regulatory requirements and milestones, and monitor project progress against those requirements
  • Prepare internal and external documents and presentations 
  • Learn to provide quantitative analytical support for key project development decisions


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Civil Engineering, Energy Systems, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field
  • Previous co-op or work experience in a related discipline
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative team environment while managing tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel
  • Self‑motivated, proactive learner who can quickly ramp up in a dynamic environment
  • Creative problem‑solver with an interest in improving processes and streamlining operations
  • General understanding of electrical components used in solar and storage projects
  • Technical exposure to or working knowledge of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – preferred but not required
  • Experience interacting with public officials or Boards – preferred but not required
