Process Engineer I

About Company

At the heart of what we are, we are a small company that specializes in manufacturing personal care products. While we are much bigger now than what we were 20 years ago or even 5 years ago, our company was built on a belief that being small meant that we had to be faster than our competition, smarter, braver and of course, nicer. We knew that in order to make it, we had to produce products that our customers needed, in time, priced right, and with the highest quality. We knew innovation meant pushing the envelope on design and thinking. Most importantly, we knew that developing relationships meant building a reputation for coming through on promises and standing behind our product. That is who we are today and how we operate every day.

Position Summary

The Process Engineer I will help develop, configure and optimize manufacturing processes from inception through to start-up and validation (OTCs).  They will collaborate with and support Compounding, Quality, and R&I on day-to-day operations.

The Process Engineer I will support process validation activities and act as a contributing liaison between R&I, Quality, and Compounding. This role is responsible for supporting pilots and the scale-up of first production batches of personal care, OTC, and Cosmetic products for BMSC. The candidate will support technical transfer projects and help facilitate technology transfer from R&I into Operations. This role will also assist with process optimization, batch sizing, and efficiency identification for ongoing production.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Assist in the execution of pilot batches, supporting the transformation of lab-scale processes to large-scale compounding of personal care, OTC, and color cosmetic products.

  • Provide Process Engineering support to initiate and sustain continuous improvement of products and processes.
  • Assist with process development and troubleshooting during technology transfer with customers.
  • Support efforts to reduce batch cycle times and improve tank turnover by observing production flow, identifying inefficiencies, and escalating improvement recommendations to senior engineers.
  • Follow established in-process adjustment protocols for pH, viscosity, and specific gravity; train the compounding team on approved in-range adjustments per SOP and reinforce escalation criteria for conditions outside approved parameters that require Process Engineering or R&I involvement.
  • Support establishment of best practices and innovative solutions to industrial processes — efficiency improvements, cost reduction, sustainability, and profitability.
  • Identify and resolve process deviations and Bulk or Raw Material non-conformances.
  • Write, review, and maintain Quality documents, forms and records in the Operations areas.
