Position Summary 
The Project Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable, with an emphasis on client invoicing and project accounting. This position will provide other accounting support as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Typical functions of the Project Accountant role include, but are not limited to:

Project Accounting:
  • Assist in developing and implementing project accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure accuracy of project fees, budgets, and billing terms
  • Manage consultant invoices
  • Prepare client billings in accordance with contract
  • Monitor accounts receivable for past due accounts and follow-up with clients as needed.
  • Monitor project performance and provide financial analysis to project managers
Financial Reporting & Budgeting:
  • Work closely with Director of Finance on the annual audit of our financial statements
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and monitor budget performance
  • Review and process intercompany transactions
  • Compile and submit monthly financial reports to parent company
  • May provide oversight and training of other accounting staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications and Experience 
Required Education and Degree:
  • Associate’s degree, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Required Experience, Certification, or Licensure:
  • Minimum of eight years related accounting/finance experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities; multiple divisions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent multitasking and organizational capabilities
  • Ability to work independently
 Preferred Experience, Certification, or Licensure:
  • Architecture/Engineering or Construction industry experience
  • Experience with federal and state contracting agencies
  • Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint or Costpoint 
 Required Technical Experience:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel
 Working Environment
When not working from a home office, remotely, or onsite at a project location, most of this role is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. On occasion, there may be exposure to loud office or technical machinery during its’ operation.
 
Physical Demands
  • Sitting/Standing: This role is generally sedentary, performing sitting work utilizing technological office equipment, including a laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.
  • Walking: This role requires the ability to move about inside the office to access the required technological equipment. 
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role may require stooping to reload printer trays with print paper, moving equipment, and managing cords.
  • Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptops, mice, keyboards, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.
  • Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information. 
  • Seeing: This role requires seeing, viewing, and distinguishing all aspects of internal and external accounting process.
  • Carrying/Lifting: This role requires the ability to lift up to 10lbs to transport basic office equipment during the course of travel.
