Position Summary

The Project Coordinator produces architectural documents (in the schematic, design development, and construction document phases of a project) for Project Managers that are responsive to the client's needs and deadlines while keeping in mind company architectural procedures, standards, and quality expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Typical functions of the Project Coordinator role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops concepts according to parameters defined by Project Manager or Project Architect.
  • Produces construction documents in Revit, including plans, sections, and details.
  • Maintains ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment. Interacts and communicates effectively and professionally with other team members and/or external consultants.
  • Utilizes past knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of product, recognizes problem issues, communicates impact to team and seeks clarity when necessary.
  • Assures execution of and assists with quality control activities for architectural elements on a project.
  • Reviews drawings, specifications, documents and submittals for document compliance and documenting code review and compliance.
  • Keeps lead architect or designated team leader informed of progress; recognizes problem issues and communicates impact to team and seeks clarity when necessary.
  • Uses experience and project knowledge to assist the Project Manager keeping in mind schedules/budgets and provides communication as appropriate with team leaders and/or team members who are responsible for workflow/timelines, etc.
  • Meets project design schedule and design construction budgets.
  • Coordinates with all disciplines and consultants for all phases of the project.
  • Reviews and coordinates shop drawings.
  • Attends field reviews, on-site meetings and project meetings and coordinates schedule reviews.
  • Interacts with building officials during project permitting and construction phases.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of construction administration phase documents.
  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans including administration of construction contracts.
  • Represents interest of client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
  • Prepares operating and maintenance manuals, studies, and reports
  • Prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction schedules.
  • Consult with client to determine functional and spatial requirements.
  • Coordinates activities of coworkers in preparing drawings and specification documents
  • Responsible for field verification on-site, including the use of laser scanning technology

Qualifications and Experience

Required Education and Degree:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field, required; Master’s degree preferred. Related experience in lieu of degree may be accepted.

Required Experience, Certification, or Licensure:

  • Minimum of three years related architectural experience
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
  • Proven creative and effective problem-solving skills
  • Strong and effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a cooperative and effective manner
  • Self-motivated, able to multi-task, self-starting
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion
  • Strong service orientation

Preferred Experience, Certification, or Licensure:

  • LEED credential preferred
  • Knowledgeable use of laser scanning technology

Required Technical Experience:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and other BIM design technologies
  • Working knowledge of SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite

Working Environment

This is a hybrid position that will require some (≤ 15%) travel to headquarters, client project sites, or conferences. When in office, the environment is temperature controlled subject to minimal exposure to outside elements. When traveling to project sites, this role will be exposed to various environments, terrains, temperatures, and projects under construction.

 

Physical Demands

·       Sitting/Standing: This role is generally sedentary, performing sitting work utilizing technological office equipment, including a laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.

·     Walking: This role requires the ability to move about inside the office to access the required technological equipment.

·     Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role may require stooping to reload printer trays with print paper, moving equipment, and managing cords.

·     Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptops, mice, keyboards, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.

·     Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.

·       Seeing: This role requires seeing, viewing, and distinguishing all aspects of internal and external accounting process.

·       Carrying/Lifting: This role requires the ability to lift up to 15lbs to transport technological office equipment to and from various workspaces.
