Bonusly is on a mission to make work better.

We believe recognition, motivation, and belonging aren't nice-to-haves — they're essential to how teams perform. With our roots as the market leader in employee recognition, we're evolving into a performance enablement platform that supports how teams work, grow, and thrive.

Why this role exists

Brand is a moat. When  AI can rebuild software in days, the companies that win are the ones people recognize, trust, and feel something about. At Bonusly,we believe that work should feel human — and how we show up visually is an extension of that.

Our brand has three jobs. It should feel vibrant — energetic, colorful, alive in a way that makes a manager think this will energize my team. It should feel real — honest and product-grounded, the kind of thing an HR leader reads and thinks you put into words exactly how I feel. And it should feel progressive — modern and confident enough that someone looks at it and thinks this is so much better than what we have today.

We recently completed a brand refresh that's only partially shipped. We're introducing a mascot as the face of Bizy, our agentic AI product. We're growing into new audiences with new stories to tell. And we're doing all of this on a lean, high-ownership marketing team where craft matters and ego doesn't.

We need someone who can hold the creative vision, execute at a high level, and grow more junior designers in the process. Not a creative director who delegates — a builder who leads through the work.

Why this role matters

You'll be the creative anchor for how Bonusly looks and feels across every surface — our .com, campaigns, product marketing, brand systems, and the visual language of Bizy, our AI agent. Our product design team is skilled and opinionated, and the product is an extension of the brand. Close collaboration with them isn't a courtesy — it's how coherence actually happens.

You'll work alongside two full-stack marketers, a customer marketer, a demand gen lead, and a visual designer. You're the senior creative voice in the room: the person who makes the whole team's work look and feel like it belongs together.

This is a high-ownership role with real creative authority. You'll drive the visual strategy, not just fulfill requests.

In this role, you will:

Own the brand system and take it further

  • Complete the rollout of our refreshed brand across the .com, key marketing channels, and sales collateral
  • Evolve and maintain the brand design system — keeping it usable, consistent, and alive
  • Set the visual standard that makes every piece of output instantly recognizable as Bonusly

Lead the creative development of Bizy's visual identity

  • Define and refine the mascot's visual language, personality expressions, and usage across contexts
  • Build a coherent visual world for Bizy — one that feels distinctly Bonusly but forward-looking

Execute at a high level — and raise the bar for everything around you

  • Art direct and produce campaign creative, landing pages, social content, event assets, sales decks, and more
  • Review and elevate work from more junior designers through direct creative direction
  • Partner with marketers to translate positioning and narratives into visuals that actually land

Push the intersection of brand and product

  • Collaborate with product designers to ensure brand coherence across marketing and product surfaces
  • Bring a point of view on how AI tools and generative capabilities can accelerate — not flatten — creative work

Be a creative thought partner, not just an executor

  • Bring concepts and creative strategy to campaign briefs, not just executions
  • Help the team develop shared visual vocabulary and raise its design literacy

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have 7+ years of design experience, with meaningful time in brand, art direction, or creative lead roles — ideally in B2B SaaS or tech
  • Have a portfolio that demonstrates both conceptual range and executional craft
  • Can show you've owned a brand system end-to-end — not just contributed to one
  • Have experience with character design, mascot development, or brand illustration systems (or a strong, specific interest in this space)
  • Are a strong art director — you can direct a visual designer, push back on a brief that isn't good enough, and hold a creative vision across a long project and a short sprint
  • Are deeply fluent in Figma; comfortable in the Adobe suite; can produce motion work yourself (After Effects, Lottie, etc.)
  • Have a background that includes both brand and product — you understand the full experience, not just the marketing surface
  • Are familiar with AI-assisted creative tools and have a POV on how they change (not replace) the creative role
  • Have experience designing for PLG or product-led marketing — landing pages, activation emails, in-product moments
  • Work fast without going sloppy — you know the difference between speed and shortcuts
  • Have strong communication instincts — you can explain creative decisions in plain language and advocate for quality without being precious
  • Have worked in a high-growth startup where you built something that didn't exist before
  • Have an interest in or experience with HR tech and the future of work

Is design respected here? Yes. Our SVP of Product, Design & Marketing came up through design. Great craft has a seat at the table.
