Boom Supersonic

Manufacturing Engineer, Engine Assembly

Start the Best Work of Your Career at Boom

Boom is building Superpower — a new industrial gas turbine platform designed to redefine performance and efficiency for high-power applications.

That means we’re not just designing an engine — we’re building the systems, tooling, and processes to assemble one from scratch.

As a Manufacturing Engineer focused on engine assembly, you’ll define how Superpower comes together: how components are staged, assembled, torqued, inspected, and tested.

If you’ve lived inside turbomachinery builds, engine overhauls, or high-stakes mechanical assemblies — this is where you can leave your mark.

Role Overview

  • Define and own engine assembly processes for Superpower from first build through production
  • Develop assembly sequences, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions
  • Capture, document, and continuously refine engine assembly knowledge — translating hard-earned build experience into clear work instructions, build sequences, tooling requirements, and lessons learned that enable repeatable, high-quality assembly.
  • Partner with design, quality, and test teams to ensure assemblies meet performance and reliability requirements
  • Support hands-on engine builds, troubleshooting fit-up and assembly issues in real time
  • Drive continuous improvement in assembly efficiency, quality, and repeatability
  • Support engine teardown, inspection, and rebuild activities as designs evolve
  • Help scale assembly operations as Superpower moves toward higher-rate production

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer supporting engine or turbomachinery assembly
  • Hands-on exposure to gas turbine, turbofan, or industrial engine builds
  • Strong mechanical intuition and ability to diagnose assembly-related issues
  • Comfortable working closely with technicians and test teams during live builds
  • Fluent in interpreting drawings, tolerances, and assembly requirements
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
  • Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment
  • Calm, methodical approach when things don’t fit the first time (because they won’t)

What Will Set You Apart

  • Background in engine MRO, prototype engine programs, or first-article builds
  • Active or prior FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Experience transitioning engine assembly from prototype to production
