Mission: Essence of the Job
As our first dedicated Business & Finance Operations Manager at BoomPop, your mission is to bring operational clarity, financial discipline, and systemic efficiency to the heart of our event business. You'll play a critical role in standing up the systems, processes, and reporting that power our evolving business models.
Sitting at the intersection of operations, finance, and strategy, this role is designed for a systems thinker who can both zoom out and connect the dots across departments and dive into details to make processes run smoothly. You’ll help our internal business cadence (MBRs, QBRs, and more), support the development of new financial operations, and help drive forward cross-functional initiatives that improve how we operate and how we can automate, automate, automate (with AI, duh)
Top 3 Priorities
- Stand up and scale financial operations for BoomPop products and channels
- Translate strategic goals into operational execution and support internal MBRs, QBRs, etc.
- Have a deep understanding of how we run, from financial operations to event flows to cross-functional coordination, and be able to identify and improve on inefficiencies
Within 30 days:
- You’ve conducted a comprehensive audit of existing operations and financial workflows related to event operations, including how we manage event budgets, vendor payments, and client invoicing. You’ve mapped areas of inefficiency, begun designing process improvements, and built relationships with key stakeholders in event production, partnerships, and product.
Within 60 days:
- You’ve launched a first wave of operational changes—implementing new SOPs for financial tracking, introducing tooling or automation where needed, and ensuring cross-functional visibility into our event financials. You've also developed and begun tracking key financial metrics for event delivery, with a focus on improving margin and identifying risks earlier in the planning cycle.
Within 90 days:
- You’ve established operational rigor across all BoomPop product offerings, working with the product and sourcing teams to support more scalable pricing, tracking, and reporting. You’ve become the go-to resource for business insights around event financials and are leading cross-functional projects to optimize financial operations. You have a v2 of improvements ready to launch company-wide and have a very clear “sense” of our business equation and the variables which you control (and improve).
