About the role

The Manager, Accounting role is responsible for managing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights. The accounting team partners closely with all areas of the business and ensures compliance, process and strategy are well cared for. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership skills and a keen eye for process improvement. This role is pivotal in supporting executive decision-making and driving financial accuracy and transparency.

  1. Ownership of our month end closing process
  2. Become the event financial expert in accounting
  3. Scale the accounting function


What you'll do

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Work hand in hand with the operations team in accounting for and reconciling each event, accounting for revenue, contra-revenue, and related balance sheet accounts (deferred revenue and current deposits)
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reporting tasks
  • Perform variance analysis and provide insights to senior management on financial performance metrics and trends, with a focus on event financials
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile discrepancies as necessary.
  • Coordinate with tax providers and investors
  • Prepare budget v forecast analysis, monitoring actual performance against budgeted targets.
  • Optimize NetSuite to meet accounting needs
  • Provide support for ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
  • Mentor and train junior staff members within the finance team


Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, or a related field
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Significant experience with project accounting
  • Process improvement experience within a high-growth startup
  • Consider yourself an Excel/Google Sheets expert and geek out about your love for spreadsheets
  • CPA license is preferred

Occasional Travel: Connecting is in our DNA, please note that we anticipate roughly 3-4 nights of travel per quarter for this role.


Total Compensation Package; Including Benefits and Stock:

  • Base: $105,000 - $125,000 a year; Depending on Experience and Qualifications
  • Medical, vision, dental, life: $10,000 - $16,000 a year; Depending on Individual or Family Plan
  • Equity: Our vision is to take BoomPop to the moon; Total Estimated Value for this Role is $50,000+
