Open Roles

Part-Time Key Holder (Chicago)

About Branch

Branch is shaking up the $46B office products industry to create the best work experience for the 21st century: easy, affordable and adaptable so you can sit down (or stand) and get to work.

Most people spend eight hours a day at their workspace. Our mission is creating accessible and inspiring products to help people and teams feel their best at work, wherever that happens.

We're based in NYC and Toronto, and backed by the investors behind Quip, Caraway, Eight Sleep and Peloton. Our culture combines strategic clarity with scrappy execution; we think and plan rigorously but ship fast and have fun doing it. We're looking for entrepreneurial teammates who do the same.

The Role

We’re looking for a Part-Time Key Holder to support the daily operations of our Fulton Market retail store, ensuring a seamless and engaging customer experience. As a Key Holder, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining store standards, assisting customers, and supporting the retail team in driving sales and operational excellence.

This is a part-time position (15 to 25 hours per week) that will report directly to the Store Manager. This is an hourly role, with a compensation range of $20-$24 USD per hour based on the candidate's experience, skills, competencies, and qualifications. As a part-time employee, you'll be eligible to participate in accrued PTO, a Branch product allowance, and an employee discount on Branch products.

Day To Day

  • Store Opening & Closing: Responsible for opening and closing the store, ensuring all operational procedures are followed, including cash handling, security protocols, and store presentation.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with customers, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive shopping experience in line with the high-end nature of the brand.
  • Team Support & Supervision: Assist the management team by overseeing store associates during shifts, providing direction and support as needed to ensure smooth operations and the achievement of sales goals.
  • Sales Floor Operations: Assist with maintaining an organized and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring products are displayed attractively, and that stock is managed and replenished as needed.
  • Inventory & Stock Management: Help with inventory control, ensuring that stock levels are accurately maintained and assist with stock receiving and replenishment processes as needed.
  • Flexibility in Responsibilities: Assist with other tasks as needed, including assisting with in-store events, special promotions, or other administrative tasks, ensuring the store runs efficiently and aligns with the company’s needs in a growing startup environment

What We’re Looking For

  • High-End Retail Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years working in a high-end or luxury retail environment, with a proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and drive sales in a premium setting.
  • Supervisory & Leadership Skills: Experience in a supervisory role, with the ability to lead by example, motivate a small team, and provide guidance during shifts, ensuring high standards are met.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and management, ensuring seamless communication across the store.
  • Sales Expertise: Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets, while providing a personalized, consultative approach to customers, fostering long-term relationships and repeat business.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong critical thinking skills, able to handle customer concerns or operational issues efficiently and professionally, maintaining a positive store atmosphere.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Comfort with working in a dynamic, startup environment, where roles may evolve and responsibilities may shift, requiring flexibility and a hands-on approach.
  • Passion for Furniture and Design: You have a genuine enthusiasm for furniture and design, bringing that passion into every customer interaction and merchandising decision on the floor.
