As a Senior Trust Officer, you are responsible for a unique blend of relationship building, trust administration, estate planning and wealth transfer planning expertise, to both secure new business and retain existing clients.  Our ideal candidate will provide excellence in client service to a complex book of fiduciary clients and will have strong personal skills to enhance relationships with existing clients and develop opportunities for Bridges Trust. The role is primarily fiduciary focused and experience in Trust is essential.  

Responsibilities reflect how you can make a difference:

  • Proactively identify and build relationships with a portfolio of prospects and current clients, to advise on wealth transfer strategies and provide trust administration expertise, working in collaboration with Relationship Managers and the EVP of Trust, as well as directly utilizing own community network. 
  • Deliver excellence in client experience and wealth transfer strategies to clients and prospects to meet the complex needs of the clients and maximize relationship retention and growth, working in partnership with the Relationship Management team.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison with clients’ attorneys, accountants and other professionals, providing estate planning, wealth transfer planning, and trust administration expertise.
  • Provide administration, risk management and servicing of assigned complex accounts where Bridges Trust Company is named as fiduciary, balancing client expectations with appropriate fiduciary risk management and diligence.
  • Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to complex and non-routine problems.
  • As a representative of Bridges Trust, you will model the values of trust, service, excellence, and integrity in all that you do.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, CFP, CTFA, CPA and/or other equivalent trust education; JD preferred
  • At least 10 years relevant experience in financial services / wealth management 
  • Strong working knowledge of trust law, income tax, estate tax, gift tax and GST tax
  • Proven track record in client and prospective client development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and follow through
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A client-focused mentality, responsive to client needs, diplomatic in approach, tactful in all types of client situations, proactive in client contacts through written and verbal communication with suitable frequency
  • Skills in negotiating, problem solving, delegating, and sales/solution finding
  • Commitment to operate within the framework of a team-based culture and honor the corporate values of trust, excellence, service, diligence, relationship, performance, and development
