Status: Permanent Full Time - Leadership Allowance + Teaching Component
Commencement Date: Term 1, 2026
Position Location: Burgmann Anglican School, Valley Campus, 4 The Valley Avenue, Gungahlin
Line Managment: Responsible to the Head of Senior School and ultimately the Principal.
Faculty Leadership Duties
A Faculty Head is responsible for;
- Responsibility for the implementation of quality differentiated teaching and learning that addresses the full range of student needs
- Lead, manage and support teaching in the Senior School Mathematics faculty
- Responsibility for faculty administration
- Responsibility for the budget of the faculty
- Assist with induction of new staff to the faculty
- Collaborate closely with other members of the Senior School leadership team and attend regular meetings
- Lead and manage the Workplace Health and Safety requirements of the faculty
- Lead and manage moderation processes and Moderation Day packages for the faculty
- Communicate with parents regarding faculty matters
- Engage with professional networks
- Actively support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School
- Other duties as directed by the Head of Senior School, Deputy Principal and Principal
Teaching Duties
- Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality programs that are inclusive of all students and are responsive to their learning strengths and needs
- Establish a rapport with students to create inclusive, supportive learning environments
- Work collaboratively with colleagues
- Communicate with colleagues, students and parents in a respectful, effective and professional way
- Actively participate in the school’s co-curricular program, providing appropriate duty of care and supervision
- Participate in the pastoral care program and if required, teach a Pastoral Care class
- Actively participate in professional learning activities aligned with the school’s priorities
Selection Criteria
- An appropriate 4 Year Education Degree and registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute
- Demonstrated passion for effective learning and teaching
- Experience as a secondary teacher
- Demonstrated leadership in pedagogy and curriculum development
- Demonstrated capacity as an instructional leader
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Experience in delivering professional learning to teachers
- Willingness to participate in the School’s co-curricular program
- Interest in, and willingness to explore, innovative practices
- An understanding and support of a Christian based education in an Anglican context

Salary, Terms and Conditions
The successful applicant will be employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025. Salary will be determined according to qualifications and years of experience.
- A Leadership allowance and up to 0.3 FTE release time
