Job Description

  • You are visionary and passionate about building the backbone of precision medicine by leveraging deep technological transformation in both the scale and scope of molecular sample collection, storage, and analysis. With extensive industry experience at the intersection of molecular biology, informatics, and precision medicine, you are keen to leverage your experience in these areas to pioneer new, transformative biosample management practices with leading organizations in research and industry. You have an innovative mindset and are comfortable working in deep technical fields, with a proven track record of identifying new markets and bringing products to address these markets successfully.

  • In this Director-level role, you will report directly to the CEO and interface closely with other team members working across scientific applications, automation, and product development. We are open to starting with a remote contract engagement but the expectation is that you will join our team full-time in San Carlos, CA.

  • As an early builder of Cache, you’ll have a direct and transformative impact on our platform and its lasting impact on the biotechnology space. Together, we will build and validate new processes that leverage molecular insights from precious biospecimens worldwide in an evolving multiomics landscape. 

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with industry and academic stakeholders remotely and/or in-person at customer sites, conferences, and events
  • Convert relationships into innovative deal structures and partnerships aligned with Cache’s business objectives
  • Iteratively gather input from customers and industry stakeholders and translate insights into product strategy
  • During contracting period, identify leading candidates for Cache’s product strategy and propose roadmaps and integrations into Cache’s core business.
  • Upon conversion to full-time, product management: define the vision, strategic road map of features, and minimum viable product
  • Conduct market research on third-party services that complement Cache’s technology and develop forward-looking product strategies across the landscape of sample collection, management, testing, and data solutions for large-scale multi-omics/sequencing samples and accompanying data.
  • Generate case studies and financial models demonstrating the ROI case for Cache’s technology in the context of potential partners’ and collaborators’ businesses.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience and strong track record in:
    • Conducting market research and developing product requirements
    • Developing, advocating for, and executing long-term technical product strategies and go-to-market plans
    • Representing the company to and effectively influence external constituents, including KOLs, investors, and regulators
    • Working in highly technical and cross-functional teams
    • Successfully building technology-based solutions from early-stage companies through Series A and beyond 
  • Moderate to advanced familiarity with:
    • Financials, stakeholder dynamics, and competitive landscapes in the realms of molecular tools, drug discovery, clinical testing services, and/or SaaS
    • Dealing with privacy and security for health-related data or other highly regulated environments like banking or energy
    • Working with clinically relevant and high-research-value datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, biomarkers, etc.) 
  • Strong project management skills (e.g. budgets, timelines, goal-setting, risk management)
  • Able to work under timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • An outstanding work ethic coupled with an engaging disposition and strong entrepreneurial drive
  • Must have excellent written, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences
  • Willing to travel 10-40% of their time (depending on business needs) for customer engagement, conferences, and meetings with various stakeholders
  • Education/experience:
    • MS or MB and at least 7 years of industry experience in life sciences, biotechnology, pharma, SaaS or related industry, or:
    • BS/BA and at least 9 years of experience in the industry
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D., MD, or both
  • 10 or more years of industry experience
  • Multiple rounds of proven success building technology-based solutions from early-stage companies through Series A and beyond
  • Experience working in high-growth/venture-backed start-ups and early-stage companies
  • Previous sales and marketing experience and/or alliance management
  • Deep understanding and experience with molecular assays and analytical platforms
  • Extensive familiarity with establishing and operating CAP/CLIA-like environments 
  • Experience selling kits/reagents, instruments, software, and/or commercializing validated protocols
