About Cache

The path toward a cure begins with a sample. Cache is on a mission to store the biomolecules of today to unlock the possibilities of tomorrow by revolutionizing the way molecular biospecimens like DNA/RNA are preserved and managed. Nucleic acids are the building blocks of life, and harnessing them globally will usher in the future of precision medicine.

Our goal is to empower labs with innovative solutions that protect the integrity of their most precious data in a more environmentally and financially sustainable manner.
Our vision is to create a scalable and standardized platform for reliable ambient nucleic acid storage and access by combining chemistry, biology, automation, and computational tools. Come join us on our journey! 🧬

Job Description

  • This is a full-time position requiring in person work at our lab in San Carlos, California. You will be working at the intersection of molecular biology and chemistry. While experience in data analysis is a plus, experience with common molecular biology practices and techniques is more important. As one of the early researchers of Cache, you’ll have a direct and lasting impact on what we’re building while also learning emerging technologies in the biotechnology space.

  • You will work directly with the team leads responsible for product development and automation. Together, you will build and validate new processes that will enable the future of biopreservation.

Responsibilities

  • Helping develop and document protocols for a wide range of lab activities
  • Performing nucleic acid quantification assays (such as Qubit and qPCR)
  • Analyzing experiment data
  • Writing and delivering internal presentations on experimental findings and procedures
  • Operating and maintaining equipment, including automated liquid handlers
  • Assisting in ordering necessary supplies and equipment, and processing invoices/quotes from vendors
  • Assisting with reagent preparation, quality control, and documentation for reagent kits

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience (this is a non-negotiable requirement)
  • Proficiency with multiple nucleic acid quantification and analysis methods (such as PicoGreen, Qubit, Tapestation, nanodrop, etc.)
  • Experience using single-channel and multi-channel micropipettes
  • Experience making stock solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with processing samples in a 96-well plate format
  • Experience with reagent manufacturing and quality control
  • Experience using Benchling or similar LIMS/ELN software
  • Experience using liquid handlers
This might be a good fit for you if
  • Are passionate about learning and trying new technologies at the intersection of biology and chemistry
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Like working with small teams
  • Have a sharp focus on getting things done, troubleshoot challenges as they arise, and can thrive on uncertainty in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment
