About the role 

We are looking for a Senior Data & AI Engineer – Tech Lead to lead the technical exploration and development of solutions to complex business problems using data, signal processing, and AI. 

You will work across data engineering, data science, AI, signal modelling and domain expertise, bringing together the right technical and subject-matter capabilities to solve complex problems. Your role is to understand the problem end to end, determine what signals, data, domain knowledge and analytical or AI approaches are required, and lead the development and evaluation of the most appropriate solution. 

The role combines technical leadership, hands-on problem solving, and end-to-end ownership of the technical solution. You will shape the overall approach to a problem, determine which data, signals, models, technologies and domain expertise are required, and lead the work through exploration, validation and implementation. You will contribute hands-on where your expertise adds value, while bringing together and directing the relevant domain experts, signal/modelling specialists, data engineers, data scientists, ML/AI engineers and other specialists needed to develop the solution. 

What you will do 

• Translate complex business problems into clear technical iterations. 

• Define and lead technical approaches, experiments and prototypes. 

• Bring together domain expertise, signal and modelling expertise, and Data & AI capabilities to develop end-to-end solutions to complex problems. 

• Investigate data availability, quality and technical constraints. 

• Design and develop data, analytics and AI solutions. 

• Evaluate alternative approaches and their technical feasibility, performance and trade-offs. 

• Lead and coordinate Data Engineers, Data Scientists, ML/AI Engineers, domain experts, signal/modelling specialists and other technical specialists working on the solution. 

• Define appropriate metrics and methods to evaluate and monitor solutions. 

• Develop the technical components needed to validate and progress solutions towards implementation. 

• Identify when an approach is not viable and help develop alternative approaches or reframe the problem. 

• Communicate technical findings, trade-offs and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders. 

What we're looking for 

• Ability to work across technical and domain boundaries, integrating subject-matter expertise with data, signals, modelling, analytics and AI to solve problems. 

• Strong experience in R&D environments, solving complex problems, navigating uncertainty, and delivering innovative products. 

• Strong understanding of modern data and AI technologies and their practical application. 

• Experience developing technical solutions, prototypes, analytical workflows or ML/AI systems. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to lead complex technical work and collaborate effectively with specialists across different disciplines. 

• Ability to evaluate technical feasibility, performance, risks and trade-offs. 

• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

• A pragmatic approach that balances exploration, technical quality and practical implementation.
