We are looking for a Junior Node.js Engineer to join our team developing embedded Linux applications for monitoring equipment in electrical networks.
You will work mainly with JavaScript and TypeScript, using Node.js to contribute to microservices on our embedded Linux platform and React.js to support web applications that communicate with back-end services through REST APIs.
With guidance from experienced engineers, you will implement, test, and debug well-defined features for IoT embedded devices. This role offers exposure to the full software development lifecycle and an opportunity to build practical skills in embedded systems, web technologies, and professional engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Implement well-defined software features using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and React with support from the team.
- Fix defects and assist with troubleshooting on Linux-based embedded systems.
- Write and maintain unit tests and contribute to integration and system testing.
- Learn to use and support the team’s CI/CD workflows.
- Collaborate with software engineers, QA, DevOps, and other engineering disciplines.
- Take part in code reviews, applying feedback to improve code quality and engineering skills.
- Maintain technical documentation for assigned features and changes.
- Communicate progress, questions, and blockers clearly.
Required Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript and an understanding of Node.js.
- Understanding of web fundamentals and REST APIs.
- Basic knowledge of Linux and confidence using a command-line environment.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, source control, testing, and debugging.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.
- Fluent English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal, academic, internship, or commercial projects using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, or React
- Exposure to Docker, CI/CD, or GitLab.
- Basic understanding of Ethernet, serial communication, or TLS/SSL.
- Interest in IoT, embedded Linux, or hardware-software integration.
- Familiarity with Agile teamwork and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
