Research Scientist

The Research Scientist at CRI will play a critical role in shaping the future of cancer immunotherapy by curating and transforming information and data into insights that drive research, funding, and patient impact. They will contribute to the organization’s overall strategic research agenda and will collaborate on cross-functional Program and Development initiatives, providing scientific expertise and direction. A successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in a relevant field, excel in communication and project management, possess critical writing and data analysis skills, and be passionate about driving progress in cancer immunotherapy. 

The Research Scientist will report directly to the Director of Scientific Affairs in the Programs Team. This will be a hybrid role working out of our New York City location.



Responsibilities:

  • Curate and maintain an extensive immunotherapy drug and clinical trial database, identifying themes and emerging trends across different cancer types and treatment modalities 
  • Conduct literature reviews and stay up-to-date on all in progress immunotherapy clinical trials, applying key learnings to new and ongoing Program and Development efforts
  • Create and write content for publication in scientific journals, for donor proposals and reports, and for patient education materials
  • Attend and participate in national scientific conferences and meetings, representing CRI and reporting on new research findings and clinical trial outcomes 
  • Work collaboratively to help define, implement, and measure Program impact evaluation metrics to inform organizational-level strategy and operations
  • Support new pilot initiatives across research, clinical, patient, and data Programs at CRI and in partnership with our collaborators and affiliated scientists

Requirements:

  • An advanced degree (e.g., PhD, MPH) in cancer biology, immunology, immunotherapy, or a related field with 0-3 years of relevant experience in industry or equivalent academia
  • Working proficiency in basic data and statistical analysis, using tools such as R, SQL, or Python
  • The ability to effectively integrate and collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for data-driven storytelling
  • Excellent time management skills, handling multiple projects simultaneously and meeting realistic deadlines
  • An innate need for organization and a detailed approach to drive and own independent project design, execution, and maintenance
  • Creativity, adaptability, and a bias towards action, with a strong team-first mindset
  • A passion for science, an eagerness to learn, and a commitment to making the greatest possible impact for researchers, patients, and the future of immunotherapy

Nice to Have:

  • Strong background in immuno-oncology or cellular mechanisms of oncogenesis including a proficient understanding of the innate and adaptive immune response to cancer
  • General understanding of drug development, clinical trials, and FDA approval processes  
  • Experience in analysis of variables and processes that assess drug treatment safety, outcomes, cost, quality, and value
  • Experience in managing multi-partner collaborations between different organizations, including non-profits, academic institutions, and industry

We offer competitive compensation and benefits tailored to factors such as location, role complexity, and experience. The estimated base salary range is $84K-94K per year.
