Job Title:  Payroll Specialist


Company:  triOS College


Location Hybrid, 2360 Meadowpine Boulevard, Mississauga, ON L5N 6S2  


Hours: Full-time, Permanent, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm


Start Date: Immediate


The Opportunity:


The primary purpose of the Payroll Specialist is to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time by preparing and processing the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for different divisions of the Company. The workforce is comprised of both salary and hourly employees, each with their own nuances and payroll policies.


What you'll be doing:

  • Compile payroll data, process, and transmit payroll, using Rippling (our end-to-end HRIS), in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with established payroll processing calendars, and provincial regulations.
  • Working as part of our Payroll team, perform auditing of payroll inputs prior to transmission deadlines.
  • Assist managers to ensure accurate time accounting for all employees; critical follow up for all hourly employee’s timecard entries prior to transmission of payroll.
  • Process terminated employees through Rippling, including auditing terminated information for ROEs.
  • Monitor employee promotions, compensation and transfers changes.
  • Process annual merits, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive calculations.
  • Calculate and process final pay for terminated and leave employees and prepare Records of Employment online via Service Canada.
  • Contribute to the development and interpret payroll policies and procedures. Communicate payroll policies and procedures to employees as required.
  • Import employee and employer RRSP contributions semi-monthly via Wealthsimple.
  • Run/create/edit reports within Rippling.
  • Keep abreast of the payroll processing system and changes in wage/tax laws.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, both internal and external.

What you bring to the position:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll Administration, or Business is preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Solid experience processing hourly and salary payroll.
  • Experience with processing payroll through an end-to-end HRIS, preferably Rippling.
  • Familiar with payroll software and payroll reports
  • Solid understanding of payroll administration practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of payroll work.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments at one time and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Thorough follow-through and problem-solving skills, and excellent with both math and logic.
