The American Federation of Musicians and Employers' Pension Fund ("AFM-EPF") was established for the exclusive purpose of providing certain pension and related benefits to Covered Employees and their Beneficiaries under the Plan, and shall further provide the means for financing and maintaining the operation and administration of the Trust and the Plan in accordance with the Trust Agreement, the Plan, and applicable law. 
Job Description
 
Senior Accountant
 
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Department: Finance
Salary (in US Dollars): $65,000-70,000

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting data for AFMEPF. The responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial information, reconciling accounts and resolving account discrepancies, as well as providing concise recommendations to improve results and performance. Additional contributions are expected with various improvement and automation projects, and initiatives to increase the spirit of collaboration within and across departments. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Process the pension checks stops, death stops/reclaims and reissuing requests 
  • Prepare and execute the monthly pension payments to over 50,000 Fund pensioners
  • Maintain up to date notes to all relevant pension spreadsheets and related profiles in MAX 
  • Reconciles the Pension monthly benefits and contributions spreadsheet 
  • Reviews monthly lump sum pension payments to ensure accuracy prior to Bank processing
  • Process the Locals annual agreement for remitting pension payments to the Fund 
  • Support annual audit and tax filings
  • Manage and process the remote bank deposits for checks received daily
  • Serves as backup to Assistant Accounting Manager regarding AP/AR processes
  • Miscellaneous specific fund reporting or projects requested by Accounting Manager or Director of Finance.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping or financial analysis experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.)
  • Knowledge and ability to use Business Central or similar accounting ERP software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and conceptual skills required 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Experience developing and streamlining processes
  • Knowledge of defined benefit pension plans
  • Non-profit accounting principles
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a solutions-oriented approach to your work

The pay range for this role is:

65,000 - 70,000 USD per year (Fund Office)
