As a faith-based organization, QueensCare provides, directly and in collaboration with others, accessible quality healthcare for low-income individuals and families residing in Los Angeles County.

QueensCare is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization originally founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Sacred Heart, whose mission of compassion and accessible healthcare continues today. QueensCare provides screening, treatment, education, and preventive and direct care to Los Angeles area residents in need. Beyond that, we also give charitable grants to other non-profits making a difference in the City of Angels and fund scholarships for those entering medical fields with an interest in working in underserved communities.

About the role

Under the supervision of the Director of Administration, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Specialist is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing electronic health record systems. Additionally, the EHR Specialist handles data extraction and basic data analysis. This role is pivotal in managing and enhancing the EHR systems, training and supporting end-users, and continuously implementing industry best practices. The EHR Specialist collaborates with Operations Program Managers and the Senior IS Support Leader to ensure seamless integration and efficient operation of EHR software.  

What you'll do

EHR Support and Management 

  • Install, configure, and maintain EHR systems. 

  • Ensure systems are updated with the lasted software versions. 

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with IT support as needed.  

  • Train healthcare staff on EHR system functionality and best practices. 

  • Provide ongoing support to users, answering questions and concerns. 

  • Develop training materials and documentation for users.  

  • Manage patient data entry within the EHR systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. 

  • Implement data entry protocols and standards to maintain data integrity. 

  • Generate and analyze reports using Power Bi software to meet the data analysis needs of program managers and regulatory agencies.  

  • Ensure EHR systems comply with healthcare regulations and monitor system usage to ensure adherence to privacy and security protocols.  

  • Assist with audits related to EHR data. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains. Customize EHR configurations to meet the specific needs of programs.  

  • Ensure interoperability with external systems for seamless exchange of patient information.  

  • Perform regular quality checks on EHR data and system functionality. 

  • Prepare and present reports on EHR system usage, performance metrics, and compliance.  

  • Implement protocols for data validation and error correction.  

  • Must be willing and able to work all business hours including evenings and weekends to attend health fairs/events as needed. 

  • Must be willing and able to work at all locations as needed. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).  

  • Certification in EHR systems (e.g. Epic, Exym, Penelope), or relevant software applications preferred. 

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Proven experience in implementing and supporting electronic health record systems.  

  • Familiarity with databases, reporting software, data extraction, and data presentation tools. 

  • Experience in the healthcare field preferred. 

  • Experience with EHR Penelope, Revolution and OpenDental preferred.  

  • Experience with PowerBi preferred.  

 

KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Understanding healthcare workflows, patient care process, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Working knowledge of data security and privacy laws (e.g. HIPAA) preferred. 

  • Promotion of process improvement. 

  • Demonstrates proficiency in computer applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, MyTurn, Penelope, and CAIR. 

 

SKILLS: 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.  

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment. 

  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both oral and written, preferably bilingual (Spanish- oral). 

  • Understands which decisions can be made alone and which decisions need to involve others. 

  • Demonstrates a self-directed mature, disciplined, and tactful approach to fulfilling job duties. 

  • Demonstrates ability and flexibility to work in other areas of the organization as needed  

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as EHR systems, Zoom, Teams, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook. 

The pay range for this role is:

70,215.60 - 81,075.61 USD per year (QueensCare Corporate Headquarters)
