Position Responsibilities: 

The Transmission Planning Engineer will report to Vice President, Engineering and work closely with other members of the technical team as well as development, land, and finance teams to identify potential solar and energy storage project development sites and help define prospecting strategy while performing transmission analysis for Redeux Energy's Projects.   

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following activities:  

  • Assist in evaluating potential transmission interconnection points and potential network upgrade costs. 

  • Utilize datasets and tools like Hitachi Velocity Suites and ICF to determine transmission capacity during initial screening. 

  • Summarize power systems analyses finding and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders. 

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for transmission interconnection study and application process. 

  • Coordinating with Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Transmission Operators (TOs) to support company’s interconnection application. 

  • Perform transmission analysis for utility-scale solar and energy storage project siting to evaluate the feasibility and impact of proposed projects on the transmission system using PowerGem TARA or Similar software. 

  • Collaborate with external consultants to define study scope, define study model, validate study model, review study results, and report to ensure accuracy and reliability of analysis and recommendations. 

  • Up to 10% travel is required. 

  • Additional duties as required. 

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will have experience with high-voltage transmission systems to interconnect utility-scale renewable projects to the grid. The candidate must also be able to work well in a matrixed organization and interact well with all functional groups.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on Power Systems; MS EE preferred. 

  • 3+ years of working experience as a transmission planning engineer. 

  • Strong understanding of transmission system impacts associated with the interconnection of solar and storage projects. 

  • Experienced in running power flow analyses using tools such as TARA, PowerWorld, PSS/E.  

  • Familiarity with economic transmission market planning and studies using tools like PROBE, UPLAN, PROMOD, PLEXOS, etc. preferred. 

  • Knowledge of different RTO/ISO transmission planning and generation interconnection processes is preferred.  Familiarity with MISO, ERCOT, WECC, and SERC is highly valued. 

  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders. 

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw insights. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment in both team and individual settings. 


Compensationand Culture 

  • Hybrid schedule (4 days in office) based out of our Denver, Colorado Office, full remote is an option for an ideal, experienced candidate 

  • Base compensation of $90,000-$100,000 per year, depending on experience 

  • Opportunity to participate in annual performance incentive payment of 20% of salary
