Position Summary
The Fleet & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing fleet operations and safety programs across three states, ensuring all vehicles, equipment, and field operations remain safe, operational, cost-effective, and compliant with regulatory standards. This leadership role requires strategic oversight of maintenance, compliance, and workplace safety, as well as the implementation of company-wide initiatives that support operational excellence. The Fleet & Safety Manager will lead efforts in continuous improvement, risk reduction, and team development to uphold a culture of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee fleet maintenance and operations across multiple locations, ensuring equipment uptime, safe use, and compliance with company standards.
- Develop and implement company-wide initiatives to standardize fleet and safety best practices across all sites.
- Lead continuous improvement strategies (e.g., 5S, lean maintenance) that enhance operational efficiency, reduce risk, and improve safety outcomes.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and local safety regulations, maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Establish and enforce Tendit’s fleet maintenance, operational safety, and vehicle cleanliness standards.
- Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of safety programs across all fleet and field operations.
- Conduct safety audits, accident investigations, and root cause analyses; track trends and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate and deliver safety-related training (e.g., driver safety, equipment handling, hazard communication).
- Collaborate with operations leadership to proactively address safety concerns and foster a safety-first culture.
- Ensure incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up are timely and accurate to reduce recurrence and liability.
- Manage a fleet and safety operating budget of at least $3 million, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accuracy in expense forecasting.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high safety and reliability standards.
- Oversee contracts with maintenance providers and safety vendors, ensuring performance and value.
- Track and analyze key fleet and safety performance metrics, leveraging data to drive decisions and improve results.
- Lead and develop a team of Shop Foremen, Mechanics, and Safety support staff to drive consistency and accountability across all locations.
- Recruit, train, and mentor team members with an emphasis on safety awareness, compliance, and professional growth.
- Promote a culture of safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement through coaching and structured feedback.
- Ensure consistent execution of safety and maintenance standards across departments and locations.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations governing fleet and workplace safety.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping for inspections, PMs, incidents, and training.
- Serve as the point of contact for external safety audits and regulatory reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Safety Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fleet and/or safety management, including multi-site oversight.
- Proven success managing $3 million+ budgets with a track record of cost control and safety improvement.
- Deep knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA regulations, and vehicle lifecycle management.
- Experience developing and managing safety programs, including training, audits, and corrective action plans.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in fleet management systems and incident tracking/reporting software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Compensation for this position is $105,000 - $120,000, depending on experience. This role will be based at our CAM location and will require travel to our divisions in Colorado, Arizona, and Utah as needed.
