About the role

The Associate Director of Accounting will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective internal controls. This role involves rolling up your sleeves, collaborating with other departments, and supporting strategic financial planning and analysis, as needed

What you'll do

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. 

• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. 

• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function. 

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with external auditors during audits. 

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting operations. 

• Assist in the preparation of financial presentations for senior management and the board of directors. 

• Stay current with industry trends and changes in accounting standards and regulations. 

• Manage payroll and accounts payable for the organization 

• Play a leading role in the implementation of our new ERP transitioning from Quickbooks to Business Central 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. 

• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. 

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. 

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. 

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. 

• High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. 

• Knowledge of ERP systems and experience with system implementations or upgrades. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience in payments / fintech industry
