OVERVIEW
Caribou Thunder is seeking an Accountant V to join our team. The position would be an addition to part of an existing 6-person accounting team working within a small fast paced office that provide financial information, analysis, guidance, and responses to specific questions for team members as well as our customers. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and complex environment, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. REQUIREMENTS
As an Accountant V, you will be part of a strategic-heavy office with a small personnel footprint but significant impact. You will work with autonomy and minimal supervision in a dynamic and complex environment. Your responsibilities will include overseeing credit card accounts, assisting in maintaining private industry partnerships, and supporting the administration of the office.
The Accountant will work as part of a team to provide financial information, analysis, guidance, and responses to specific questions from team members as well as the members of the office at large. The position requires standard 1860 hours per year with core daily hours from 8:00am-2:00pm.
1. The Accountant will be responsible for 20-25 entities. The number of assigned entities may change over time. The Account should have these attributes: Ability to handle multiple tasks, and varied tasks, on any day. Good communication skills; especially in dealing with other areas which have differing knowledge and priorities; flexibility to handle changing environments; decision making ability, especially in determining and effective course of action for a new analysis or in a new situation; ability to write, revise, and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs); an ability to maintain the focus of the current job requirements while also evaluating ways to improve existing processes.
2. The Accountant shall have experience with financial statement compilations/reviews, tax return preparation, bank/fixed reconciliations, monthly/quarter ended entries.
3. Travel in the WMA and to domestic locations to review financial documentation, provide guidance in the areas of accounting/Sponsor's regulations and answer accounting team questions.
4. The Accountant will primarily be responsible for the following: Reviewing and compiling quarterly financial statement submission in accordance with the Sponsor's reporting requirements and Generally Accepted accounting Principles (GAAP), Interface with and provide guidance to the Sponsor's clients to ensure proper accounting treatment of all financial activity. Timely, accurate, and complete quarterly financial statements. Detailed work papers to support the quarterly financial statements. Monthly financial reviews. Budget and forecasting. Review of monthly activity, including all cash disbursements, cash receipts, journal entries, vendor invoices, billing invoices, and petty cash activity. Tax planning and tax preparation of Federal/State/Local tax returns. Various financial analysis as requested by management. Preparation and filing of annual form 1096/1099. Preparation and filing of quarterly/year end payroll tax reports. Involvement in processes related to such areas as contract revision and interpretation, fixed assets, customer requirements, cash management, and banking.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Accountant will use the following key systems; they can be learned on the job, but prior knowledge is preferred:
1. Sage Accounting Software, QuickBooks Accounting Software, Fixed Asset Software and Tax Software
2. Sponsor's Management System for Special Authorities
3. Sponsor's Financial Systems
4. Intermediate Skills with MS Excel and Basic Skills with MS PowerPoint
5. It is highly desired that the Accountant be familiar with Sponsor Regulations.
6. Prior experience with Sponsor Center and related groups is preferred and would be beneficial.
