Full Stack Java Developer

OVERVIEW
A Full Stack Developer in a Department of Defense (DoD) program is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust web applications that support the program’s operational and security requirements. This role involves working across both front-end and back-end development, leveraging technologies like JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Angular, React, and backend frameworks such as Node.js, Python, or Java. Developers in this environment must ensure compliance with DoD standards, including security protocols and data handling, while focusing on scalability, reliability, and user experience. They collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, project management, and systems engineering, to build solutions that meet mission-critical needs and maintain a high level of system security and integrity. Additionally, Full Stack Developers are often involved in integrating with various DoD systems and databases, making a deep understanding of government technology infrastructure and security clearances beneficial.
REQUIREMENTS
The primary function will be to have expertise in both front-end and back-end development, including proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, Python, and SQL, as well as experience with frameworks like React and Node.js. They should also possess a strong understanding of secure coding practices, software development life cycle (SDLC).
1. Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java and relevant front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to support defense-related projects.
2. Integrate applications with existing defense systems and databases to ensure seamless communication and data flow across secure environments.
3. Develop and manage databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance optimization to meet contract requirements.
4. Implement and maintain robust security measures to meet strict defense and federal cybersecurity standards, protecting sensitive information and system integrity.
5. Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and code reviews to ensure applications are reliable, secure, and free from vulnerabilities before deployment.
6. Create and maintain documentation for code, system architecture, and workflows, ensuring clarity and compliance with defense standards.
7. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including defense analysts, project managers, and other developers, to understand requirements, provide updates, and deliver solutions aligned with defense objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Junior:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar related discipline plus at least 1 year of direct Java/JavaScript development experience
2. Mid:
a. Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience
b. OR Masters plus 3 years of experience
3. Senior:
a. Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience
b. OR Master’s degree plus 10 years of experience
4. Subject Matter Expert:
a. Bachelor’s degree plus 15 years of experience
b. OR Master’s degree plus 13 years of experience
