OVERVIEW
Caribou Thunder is seeking a motivated System Administrators to join our team. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the computing infrastructure, networks, and systems critical to software development and operational processes. Ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of servers, databases, and network resources by implementing best practices in system configuration, patch management, and monitoring. This role involves supporting development environments, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with software engineers and cybersecurity teams to optimize performance and safeguard data. The Systems Administrator also plays a key role in automating processes, performing regular system updates, and providing end-user support, enabling a reliable and secure platform for continuous software development and deployment. This role is part of a 24/7/365 operational sustainment team responsible for monitoring and maintaining critical defense systems that protect national security.
REQUIREMENTS
You will be a key member of our Missile Defense Solutions organization, you will be at the forefront of technical problem-solving, operational coordination, and real-time system analysis. This position requires expertise in Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of missile tracking systems.
1. Work as part of a 24/7 operational team (see schedule details below).
2. Monitor and maintain system status to ensure mission readiness.
3. Troubleshoot software and OS issues to restore operational functionality.
4. Provide technical presentations and analysis reports as required.
5. Conduct performance analysis of missile tracking systems.
6. Support ground and flight test operations.
7. Perform Linux system administration and maintenance.
8. Track and log real-world events related to missile defense operations.
SCHEDULE DETAILS
9. Pitman Schedule: 12-hour shifts in a rotating cycle:
a. 2 days on / 3 days off – 2 days on / 2 days off – 3 days on / 2 days off
b. 84 hours every two weeks
c. Requires the ability to work every other weekend and all holidays that fall within the scheduled shift.
10. Rotates between day and night shifts every 6 months.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Active DoD Top Secret clearance (active within the last two years) and SCI eligibility.
2. Experience with Linux system administration.
3. Level 2: Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of experience OR 6 years of relevant experience.
4. Level 3: Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of experience OR 9 years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
5. Experience with Python scripting.
6. Familiarity with NetApp, RSA, Cisco, and HPE servers.
7. Previous experience in an operational environment.
8. Understanding of basic statistics and data analysis.
9. Experience with missile trajectory analysis and performance verification.
10. Knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems.
11. Expertise in requirements verification, validation, and algorithm analysis.
