OVERVIEW
Caribou Thunder is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Engineer III to join our team. This critical role will contribute to the success of a significant space program by supporting the integration, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure, including hardware, networks, communication systems, and antennas. This role will focus on system-level IT hardware implementation and documentation, ensuring seamless integration of IT and RF components into a mission-critical satellite ground system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with Hardware, Network, RF, and Systems Engineers, as well as System Administrators and DevOps Engineers, to deliver fully operational satellite ground infrastructure. This position requires expertise in IT hardware system design, development, integration, and deployment, with a strong emphasis on system documentation.
1. Design, generate, and maintain IT infrastructure documentation, including system interconnect diagrams, cable tables, rack layouts, and installation/test plans.
2. Consider power, cooling, and environmental factors while integrating new systems.
3. Develop lab and site installation and testing procedures to support deployment.
4. Maintain essential documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), system architecture diagrams, and installation guides.
5. Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to test and troubleshoot data flows across integrated systems.
6. Support the installation, integration, and testing of system-level IT infrastructure, including servers, routers, network switches, firewalls, and specialty RF components.
7. Follow industry best practices and established hardware processes for system deployment and lifecycle management.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Demonstrated experience in system-level IT hardware integration and testing.
2. Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and space requirements.
3. Experience in creating and maintaining critical system design documentation.
4. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5. Expertise in IT data center infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, workstations, and servers.
6. Experience with system integration projects and the full engineering lifecycle of delivering new IT infrastructure.
7. Background in RF devices and systems, with a strong foundation in RF principles.
