Join the Team That’s Shaping the Future of Online Car Auctions
Cars & Bids is the best online auction marketplace built for the modern enthusiast to buy, sell, or discover cool cars and engage in the community. To us, “cool” ranges from the obvious (a Ferrari F355 or a Lamborghini Gallardo) to the esoteric (a pristine Dodge Dakota Convertible or a Mercury Capri XR2) to the traditional fun cars that enthusiasts love (a Mazda MX-5 Miata or a Porsche 911). Founded by automotive journalist Doug DeMuro and tech entrepreneur Blake Machado, Cars & Bids has enjoyed rapid growth since its launch in June 2020 – hosting over 27,000 auctions, selling over $600+ million worth of cars, and reaching well over a million visitors every month. For more information, we encourage you to visit our website at www.carsandbids.com!
We are growing fast, attracting new audiences, and further establishing ourselves as the preeminent automotive online auction destination. As a Mobile Developer for Cars and Bids, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our mobile apps that empower users to browse, bid on, and purchase vehicles through our platform.
In this role, you will be working closely with a small and talented product development team to support Cars & Bids’ rapid growth, while also continuing to innovate in the online auction space. You’ll have the opportunity to find creative solutions to thought-provoking problems, and the ability to create and drive new initiatives, seeing them through from inception to technical design, implementation, and release.
What You’ll Do

- Drive the full mobile lifecycle—from prototyping and MVP validation through launch, analytics, and ongoing optimization
- Build and maintain cross-platform apps in SwiftUI and React Native
- Tune app performance and responsiveness for a seamless experience across devices and screen sizes
- Monitor industry trends in cross-platform dev, automotive tech, and bidding systems—and apply them where it makes sense

- Collaborate with QA to uphold our quality standards
- Translate UX/UI designs into polished, intuitive interfaces, ensuring consistent look and feel across all of our platforms
- Participate in code reviews: share knowledge, enforce best practices, and raise the bar on code quality
- Surface risks early—identify engineering or product gaps and propose practical, scalable solutions
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years building production-grade iOS apps (Swift/React Native) for consumer or enterprise use
- Hands-on experience migrating native SwiftUI apps to React Native and a drive to expand our audience across platforms
- Strong SwiftUI proficiency to maintain and extend existing code (app state, memory management, WebSockets, WebViews)
- React Native expertise, staying current with cross-platform tech while respecting native best practices and platform-specific nuances
- Strong project management and data-driven decision-making, with meticulous attention to detail
- Passion for automotive or auction marketplaces
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication
- Proven problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting
- Ownership mindset: you’ll own features end-to-end, balancing quick wins and long-term code health
- Excitement for a startup vibe and rapid growth
