About the role:


Job Summary Statement: Casa Esperanza, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in delivering high-quality mental health care. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health or medical settings, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to serving diverse communities.


Sign-on bonus: $5,000 (Paid 50% at hire and 50% at 6 months from start.)


What you'll do


Essential Functions:

·       Assist the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in day-to-day clinical operations, including preparing patients for consultations and documenting medical histories.

·       Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments to ensure efficient clinic workflows.

·       Perform basic clinical tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, updating electronic health records (EHR), and ensuring accurate patient documentation.

·       Facilitate communication between patients and the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, answering questions and providing instructions for follow-up care.

·       Ensure that examination rooms are stocked, sanitized, and ready for patient use.

·       Coordinate with other team members to manage prescription refills, medication tracking, and lab result follow-ups.

·       Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, maintaining patient files, and generating reports as needed.

·       Maintain compliance with Casa Esperanza, Inc.’s policies, local regulations, and HIPAA requirements to protect patient privacy.

·       Support culturally sensitive care by communicating with patients in their preferred language and accommodating cultural needs (bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred).

 


Qualifications


·       Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required

·       At least 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or mental health setting.

·       Bilingual Spanish/English required

·       Current and valid Massachusetts driver’s license and a proven record of safe driving

·       Experience with homelessness, mental illness, domestic violence

·       Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

·       Experience with ZOOM or other virtual platform

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

·       Knowledge of community/recovery resources

·       Ability to work both as a team member and independently

·       Understanding of relapse prevention and harm reduction techniques

·       Strong interpersonal skills

·       Strong communication and technical skills

·       Crisis management skills

·       Must be able to effectively use computer programs, including web-based database system  

·       Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License

·       Ability to meet the physical and training requirements of the position.


Schedule:

Full Time 40 Hours

Monday to Friday

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The pay range for this role is:

23 - 25 USD per hour (Familias Unidas Outpatient Program)
