Job Overview


CBTS has an opening for a candidate with 8+ years’ experience managing Linux operating systems. This position resides in a CBTS Managed Services team that provides enterprise solutions and technologies to multiple customers.


The ideal candidate will work with minimal supervision and have a desire to investigate and implement solutions or fixes. Working with a team of engineers, this candidate must possess a willingness to learn and adapt. Following procedures for break/fix, incidents, change requests, and scheduled maintenance are a regular part of the position.


Verbal and written communication skills are necessary to convey information that may be complex to others. Additionally, being productive in a team environment and helping contribute to a positive team effort is required. Planning and prioritization must occur to complete tasks effectively.


Position requires on-call support and after-hours work.


Technical Qualifications


  • Linux (RedHat 7/8/9, CentOS) required; additional Unix (Solaris/AIX) is a big plus
  • General Unix/Linux administration such as building and configuring VMs, software package installation, account maintenance, file permissions, system tuning
  • Other Linux skills – Shell scripting, LVM, TCP/UDP, SNMP, DNS, NFS, ssh, sudo, syslog
  • Performance troubleshooting, managing system services, system hardening
  • Break/Fix
  • Release management and patching
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking in the OSI model in LAN/WAN environments
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated with good time management, communication, and presentation skills across varying organization levels
  • Customer-facing experience when handling incident response.
  • Solid experience working in VMware environments
  • Other cloud administration (AWS, Azure, Google) experience nice to have


Experience/Background


  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience as a Linux systems administrator or equivalent education or training
  • Degree resulting in an Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and relevant professional certifications.
  • Familiar with ITIL and ticketing systems
  • Experience with enterprise systems for monitoring
  • Any relevant certifications: RHCSA, RHCE, CCENT, VMware VCP, AWS, Azure
