Job Purpose:

The Income Tax Manager at CBTS is responsible for overseeing all aspects of income tax planning, compliance, and reporting. Reporting to the Tax Director, this role focuses on developing and implementing tax strategies that optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring full compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax laws. This individual will guide internal stakeholders on tax-related matters, manage third-party tax preparers, and support audits, reporting, and tax planning initiatives.


Essential Functions:

  • 40% – Manage third-party providers in preparing and reviewing all income tax returns (international, federal, state, and local), including estimated payments and extensions. Respond to tax notices and assist in audits as needed.
  • 25% – Review quarterly tax provision calculations, deferred tax balances, and tax basis balance sheets. Assist with financial analysis and reporting to identify tax-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • 15% – Conduct tax research and provide guidance on the tax implications of business decisions.
  • 10% – Collaborate with finance, accounting, and legal departments to integrate tax planning into business strategy.
  • 5% – Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies.
  • 5% – Monitor industry trends and best practices; recommend and implement process improvements to enhance tax functions.


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Required)
  • CPA or Master’s Degree (Preferred)


Experience:

  • 7–10 years of income tax experience, preferably with a mix of corporate and public accounting exposure


Certifications, Accreditations, and Licenses:

  • CPA certification or Master’s Degree in Taxation is a plus


Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge of international, federal, state, and local income tax laws
  • Experience with M&A, GILTI, FDII, and Transfer Pricing
  • Familiarity with international statutory audits and IFRS (a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret complex tax regulations and provide strategic insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite


Supervisory Responsibility:

  • No direct reports
  • Oversight responsibility for vendors and contractors


Work Environment:

  • Office or remote work setting

The pay range for this role is:

120,000 - 140,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
