Manager of Technical Operations (Network & Firewall)


Job Purpose

Manage a team of Tier II / III / IV Engineers and Architects responsible for the administration and support of a subset of network or computing environments to include WLAN, LAN/WAN, network management (Firewall, WAF), security and/or other technical platforms or domains. Lead the formulation, recommendation, interpretation and implementation of the new technology systems, procedures and policies for both CBTS and our customers. Direct the design, development, implementation and/or maintenance of network infrastructure, systems and/or systems software to meet external customer and internal business needs. Participate in the development of new or existing service offerings for Managed or Professional Services. Prepare and present formal presentations related to assigned projects.


Essential Functions

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to meet assigned project deliverables (25%)
  • Monitor and evaluate team processes and procedures; make changes as necessary to meet or exceed customer or project demands (25%)
  • Interact directly with customers on deployments as well as a point of escalation for issues (25%)
  • Ensure team is properly trained on technology and systems to effectively design, implement and support network services (10%)
  • Participate in solutions and service offerings in general or with specific customers (10%)
  • Research emerging technologies (5%)   

 

Professional Experience: 

  • 10 years' experience with the design, installation, and support of enterprise systems
  • Experience in managing and leading teams of technical engineers (Tier II/III).
  • Hands on experience managing Firewall/WAF/Zero Trust technologies (Cisco, Checkpoint, Zscaler, Cloudflare, Imperva)

 

Education:

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Appropriate discipline certifications (preferred) – Cisco, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Zscaler, AWS

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong technical skills regarding a wide range of technologies and services (i.e. Internet, LAN, WAN, etc.)
  • Strong leadership skills, either in project management or a team lead capacity
  • Excellent coaching skills and a high understanding of customer perspective and corporate goals
  • Ability to determine client needs and formulate a plan to meet those needs
  • Ability to develop processes and procedures for supporting and implementing complex, enterprise networks and/or networking/computing systems
  • Ability to manage people with a diversity of talents, including highly skilled engineers
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communications skills
  • Excellent analytical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises a team of professional Enterprise Network Security Engineers

May also oversee work of contractors
