Chief Technology Officer – Professional Services
Location:
Hybrid | Preferred: Remote
Reports To:
SVP, Professional Services
Overview:
We are looking for a forward-thinking, execution-oriented CTO to lead the technology and IP strategy for our Professional Services (PS) organization. This is a critical leadership role focused on shaping the future of our services by developing and commercializing a robust portfolio of proprietary, AI-infused IP assets—in partnership with delivery teams, startups, technology partners, and innovation ecosystems.
This leader will own the PS IP strategy—with a focus on solution accelerators, agentic AI solutions, AI-powered automation, and reusable assets that drive delivery velocity, improve margins, and increase deal size. In close collaboration with other PS leaders, the CTO will design and execute strategies to embed this IP across sales plays, delivery motions, and client solutions—differentiating our services in a competitive market.
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of emerging technologies, a strong network in the partner and startup ecosystem, and the ability to operate cross-functionally in a matrixed organization. They will bring a product mindset to services innovation and help position the organization at the forefront of AI-enabled transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
IP Strategy & Execution
- Define and execute the Professional Services IP strategy, focusing on value-added, reusable assets across priority solution areas.
- Lead the creation and scaling of a portfolio of proprietary IP, including:
- AI-powered solution accelerators
- Vertical-specific agentic AI solutions
- AI Ops agents for IT operations automation
- Integration frameworks and orchestration platforms
- Guide the roadmap for patentable IP, identifying areas of defensibility and market advantage.
Technology Innovation & Ecosystem Collaboration
- Maintain a strong pulse on emerging technologies, startups, open-source projects, and academic trends to inform PS innovation priorities.
- Establish a partner engagement model to co-develop or license innovation from third-party tech providers and AI startups.
- Collaborate with the AI CoE and other internal teams to integrate new tech into accelerators, platforms, and services.
Enablement & Differentiation
- Inspire and guide cross-functional teams (solution architects, engineering, delivery, pre-sales) in adopting and evolving IP assets.
- Work with Sales Enablement and GTM teams to embed IP into sales plays, messaging, and customer demos.
- Help articulate and demonstrate our differentiated capabilities—showing how we deliver faster, smarter, and with more value.
Commercialization & Monetization
- Develop strategies to monetize the IP portfolio in collaboration with service line leaders—via packaging, subscription models, managed services, or performance-based pricing.
- Create playbooks to combine AI solutions and accelerators with consulting offerings, showing clear value impact.
- Track IP usage across engagements and ensure ROI through efficiency, margin uplift, and revenue growth.
Delivery Acceleration & Operational Impact
- Embed IP and automation into the services delivery lifecycle to improve productivity and repeatability.
- Define metrics and frameworks to measure IP adoption, reuse, and business impact across delivery teams.
- Drive a culture of reuse and innovation—connecting delivery feedback to the IP roadmap and innovation cycles.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise technology, consulting, or services innovation.
- Proven track record of building and scaling technology/IP portfolios in a Professional Services or productized-services model.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML, GenAI, LLMs, autonomous agents, and AIOps tools.
- Experience working with startups, VCs, innovation labs, and cloud platform partners.
- Strong product-thinking and solution architecture skills with the ability to lead technical vision across verticals.
- Strong executive presence, communication, and storytelling skills—able to engage at CxO level and motivate teams.
- Demonstrated experience in monetizing IP through value-based services offerings or innovative pricing models.
- Experience with patent strategy, co-development models, and building reusable services IP at scale.
Success Metrics:
- Portfolio Development & Adoption
- Launch an initial portfolio of high-impact, AI-powered solution accelerators and agentic solutions within the first 6–9 months.
- Achieve measurable IP adoption across at least 25% of active delivery engagements within year one.
- Deliver at least one patentable IP component or platform innovation per year.
- Commercial Impact
- Demonstrate deal size lift and improved win rate in opportunities where IP is integrated into sales plays.
- Achieve a 5–10% increase in project margins where accelerators and automation assets are deployed.
- Track and increase reuse frequency and ROI of IP assets across the PS portfolio.
- Sales & Customer Enablement
- Collaborate with Sales and Pre-Sales to support differentiated AI-led value propositions using PS IP.
- Launch sales enablement kits and demo environments showcasing our IP-driven differentiation.
- Position the PS organization as a technology-forward, AI-native partner in analyst and client conversations.
- Innovation & Ecosystem Leadership
- Establish a framework for tech scouting and startup engagement with clear intake and co-innovation mechanisms.
- Form at least 3 strategic partnerships or co-development projects with external AI or automation vendors within year one.
- Help shape a culture of innovation and IP reuse, supported by clear metrics and organizational incentives.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience in productizing services or working within a service product management function.
- Experience creating AI frameworks or agentic platforms from inception to market delivery.
- Strong network and credibility within cloud, AI, and VC/startup ecosystems.
- Understanding of vertical-specific compliance, IP protection, and data governance requirements.
